A charming 16th century cottage with lots of character and exposed beams. It has 4 bedrooms, 3 doubles and 1 twin. One of the doubles being en-suite. The cottage has been recently refurbished to a high standard. It has a log fire which is lovely & cosy in the winter and outside dining in a pretty garden for relaxing in the summer.

It's in an idyllic village called Great Urswick which has a pub and a lovely restaurant which has won a few awards. There's a park for the kids and a church which is over 1000 years old. It has a tarn which is really pretty too and there's loads of lovely walks around, Birkrigg common only a mile up the road has stunning 360 views of the Furness Peninsula. 2 miles from the South Lakes Wild Animal park, 3 miles away from the historic market town of Ulverston, 15 miles from both Coniston & Windermere and a lot of the other Lake District attractions.

“Beautiful Cottage in a quaint little village”

Reviewed 30 Oct 2018

We had a lovely weekend, spent as a surprise for our mums 70th Birthday. The cottage is very homely and cosy. We headed into Ulverston for the day which was lovely to walk around, even popped into the Laurel & Hardy Museum which our parents thoroughly enjoyed reminiscing . Beautiful scenery & the local puds are very friendly and welcoming. Thanks again

“Nice property but a lot of building works around”

Its a nice property and well maintained. However due to refurbishment next door the entrance was almost blocked with scaffolding and skip. With kids and elderly it was a bit of challenge to get it. … More

Response from the owner Thank you for your response, I can't apologise enough, we were assured it was going to be finished in August but unfortunately it wasn't, work was delayed. The owners didn't send any photos to warn me of the obstruction. I did mention work being undertaken in my welcome email but however I was uncertain of the extent. I live 100 miles away so it's very difficult to keep ontop of these things. I'm sorry if it was an inconvenience and I hope you enjoyed your time despite the work.

“A delightful cottage full of character.”

Reviewed 3 Jan 2018

The cottage is situated up a very narrow driveway which made unloading the cars difficult, but once we were inside it was very lovely. The location was ideal with a small lake across the road. The children loved walking there. The cottage was very well decorated for Christmas. Really appreciated it. It is well stocked on the whole. Could have done with another large casserole oven dish though. The heating worked well and we were cosy and warm. There was plenty of hot water and the bathrooms were very clean. Thank you for providing the second stair gate. Our bedrooms were lovely and clean and comfy. The only negative comment was that the single bed mattresses were quite hard. We were 6 adults and 2 small children.

“Small cottage”

Reviewed 13 Jul 2017

We were 2 families and the cottage is nice but was small for us. The bedrooms and size of beds are small. The main bedroom has a very small ensuite shower room which consists of a shower on one side and on the other a toilet and a small sink both in the corners and there is no mirror in this shower room. It would be ideal only for 1 family.
