Description from manager

Description

This romantic bolthole is the perfect spot to enjoy all that Fowey has to offer, with its own steps leading down to the sandy water's edge, this is an idyllic spot to enjoy a special holiday break. Set in a building that was once a chandlers, where transactions took place from boats moored alongside the decking, it now affords views of the Boddinick Ferry; the home of Daphne Du Maurier opposite; and of the constantly changing river scenes.

Inside the cosy, open-plan sitting room, dining and kitchen area is welcoming, bright and characterful. Wander through to the bedroom where the wrought iron four-poster bed and luxurious en-suite bathroom, with its feature free-standing bath await. The decked balcony is the ideal spot for a morning coffee or a sundowner before dinner. If you're lucky enough to own your own small boat or dinghy; with its own mooring, a stay at Barnacles comes complete with fun on the water!

The ancient town of Fowey, with its harbour, yacht clubs and historic buildings, has much to offer its visitors. Narrow streets lead to interesting shops, excellent restaurants, bistros and pubs, also allowing access to cliff tops and small sandy beaches at Readymoney Cove, plus a myriad of activities such as sea trips, boat hire and guided tours.

Additional Information:

A small baby in own Moses basket is welcome.

Sorry, no pets.

Contemporary glass, remote controlled, electric wall fire in sitting room.

Pay as you go mobile phone, for emergency use.

Steps leading down to the sandy water's edge with a frape to allow a mooring of a small boat.

Please note the passageway into Barnacles has shared access with the freeholder, who very occasionally uses it.

Although there is no designated parking it is possible to drop off cases outside the apartment. The Caffa Mill car park is a short one-minute walk away. (To purchase tickets, notice is required and charges apply - Please see below).

Parking Information:

Changes have been made to parking in Cornwall car parks and this affects Barnacles guests.

Daily parking can be purchased for the Caffa Mill car park over the phone on ************ or via the website www.************ at location 8351, this is situated no more than 200 yards from Barnacles. Purchase by this method relates only to the Caffa Mill car park and at the time of this note the fee is £7 per day.

Alternatively, there is number plate recognition parking at Albert Quay in the middle of town, short term only (2 hours) and longer term parking in the car park past the Bodinik Ferry and the Library which is £5 per day. This is a further 150 yards past the Caffa Mill car park and managed by the Harbour MASTER'S OFFICE ON Albert Quay. Purchasing long term parking here also allows you to park in Cornwall County Council car parks in other towns.

For full details go to www.cornwall.******/transport-and-streets/parking

The Fowey Tourist Information office has now been closed, but on the same site, near the Church, is ‘Enjoy Fowey' which can provide emergency short term parking for arrivals on Saturdays and Sundays, as the Harbour Master's office is not open at weekends.

Response from the manager We are very surprised by these comments as normally Barnacles gets glowing reviews and has lots of repeat guests. It is such a shame that we were not advised of the issues until the last day and then only by text. We would of course have dealt with any specific concerns, had the housekeeper been notified upon arrival.
