Description

Appletree is a 3/4 bedroom, 3 bath/shower room house in the quiet Lakeside village of Portinscale (just outside Keswick) and has some fabulous views of the surrounding fells. Very well finished offering spacious, high quality accommodation with some lovely homely touches. One ground floor bedroom with large super king size bed. On the first floor are three further bedrooms -one with en-suite and full bathroom with bath & seperate shower on the 1st floor. Enclosed garden to front, side and rear. Off street parking.The single bedroom is an extra £25 for a short break and £50 for a full week.

Additional amenities include: walkers, TV/DVD, fire/log burner, cyclists, pub within 200m.

Response from the manager Many thanks for taking the time to write this review its always useful to get feedback from our guests, However this is the first time we have received such a negative review , but we will take on board your comments and act on them accordingly. Since we brought the property we have painstakingly spent time and money in keeping it up to date and making many improvements, both internal and external to keep then property UpToDate and of a high standard. The recent review by visit England continued to award us 4 star gold award rating, ( march 2023) The roofing work was an emergency and had to be done. The emergency roofing work was carried out, due to a problem that arose, (the lake District has a high rainfall and so unfortunately when the problem came to light we needed to act on it to prevent internal damage) We were fortunate to be able to get local trades to carry out this emergency work at short notice professionally with a positive attitude, so as to ensure the quality of the building and comfort of our guests You were informed prior to the work being undertaken You were offered the option to leave and get a refund, however you chose to stay so we paid for your breakfast as you said the work was noisy. They were working outside for two half days and you opted to stay and go out for the days. As agreed at the end of your stay we gave you a full refund for the two days the work was being carried out. We felt we had acted in a fair and reasonable manner, apologies if you do not see it this way. We wish you all well and are sorry that you felt aggrieved. Kindest regards. “Excellent house in the lake district”

A lovely house, well laid out and plenty of space, we were 3 adults and 2 older teenage children. It is clean and well provisioned, the garden is pleasant and well secured for dogs. There is easy access to walks, the lake and Keswick. The only downside i poor wifi. I suggest that if you have teenagers, you make sure they have downloaded everything that they can and accept the they can't communicate with their friends as they usually do

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.
