Built in 1880, this traditional Lakeland cottage was originally constructed to house teachers in the old school (now the Rawnsley Centre) opposite. Retaining many original features, and simple stylish decoration, this centrally located house has views of Skiddaw and Latrigg to the front, and a magnificent mountain vista to the rear. The property is a mere two minutes' walk to the heart of Keswick.

Additional amenities include: TV/DVD, fire/log burner, walkers, cyclists, pub within 1 mile.

“Cosy cottage - weather wet!”

This cottage was ideal. So warm and cosy we forgot the rain pouring down outside! Will definitely stay again. Really handy for Keswick and the surrounding area.

“3.5* Comfortable cottage with good living areas”

Positive: Comfortable, clean and spacious cottage, convenient for the town centre. Negative: 1 Car (only) Parking across a very busy road and the front door leading straight to a busy pavement. Outside areas to the back very limited and poorly kept. TV a little cumbersome to operate and Wifi no connection. Phone coverage also not great. Kitchen equipment a little limited and tired. Agent 'Keswick Cottages' not particularly helpful. Ideal for a group of fit adults without a car. Not so great for anyone needing to have internet access for work, the elderly, young children or dogs. Comments in the guest book regarding the need for a hand rail on the stairs go back some months.

Response from the manager Thank you for taking the time to review Coleridge Cottage As you had booked through the international company Holidaylettings/Tripadvisor and not direct with ourselves it is disappointing and upsetting that you have deflected your issues with this bookings onto us. As a small local agency it is really disappointing to learn that you had issues during your stay that could have been easily rectified had you got in touch. We take great pride in the service that we provide (as you can see with all the other reviews) and would have been delighted to demonstrate this given the opportunity. We will always do our very best to ensure guests have as comfortable a stay as possible, we are just a few minutes down the road from the property and would have been more than happy to call round to take a look at the Wi-Fi (which needed turning off and back on again), TV, and replenish any kitchen equipment that you needed. Again another advantage of booking ‘local’ is that we do stock all kitchen inventory so if any goes missing or breaks we can bring a replacement straight round. We do rely on our guests to let us know about these little things that unfortunately we may not find during our check between lets. As I am sure you will be aware parking is very limited in central Keswick, so the owners of Coleridge Cottage made the decision to purchase a parking permit for guests to use in the car park directly across the road which we hope you would agree is far superior to no parking at all. We also have additional permits available to hire should guests be bringing additional vehicles and require them. All of this is clearly displayed in all of our literature. I’m sorry that you felt the area to the rear of the property was un-kept. This is a communal area for all of the residents of the adjoining houses and therefore beyond our control. Coleridge Cottage does have a private enclosed yard with seating which we of course ensure is well presented for every guest, and guests also have use of the large gardens 10m away which is of course very popular for families staying with young children as they have full use of the children’s play area and is also ideal for the guests with dogs. I do believe if you had got in contact whilst staying or read our literature you would have had a totally different experience. As you can see and if you read through the other reviews here and on our website Coleridge Cottage is an ideal place for all parties, especially the ones with young children and pets. We hope to welcome you back personally to one of our properties.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.
