3 bedroom family friendly seaside cottage

For extra peace of mind, should government restrictions around Covid-19 mean that self-catered holiday cottages are not allowed to accept guests or there is a local lockdown/tier restriction that prohibits travel in Cornwall or from the home address of the lead booker during the dates of your booked stay a full refund will be provided

We are thrilled to offer Camellia Cottage as a beautiful and homely harbourside cottage, just 2 minute walk to Portreath beach. We are now in our fifth year of holiday letting having hosted many happy guests and enjoyed a good number of wonderful weeks in Cornwall ourselves. We have succesfully navigated Covid so far and ensured that all affected guests had the choice of a full refund or transfer to alternative dates.

This 3 bedroom property sleeps 6 guests (plus 1 infant) in a double, twin and bunk room. Both the double and bunk room overlook the harbour. For your comfort the double room features a king size bed and the twin beds are extra long (6'6"). There is a travel cot, highchair and stairgate available if you are bringing an infant. The bathroom completes the upstairs accomodation and includes a shower enclosure above the bath. For the convenience of guests bath and hand towels are provided for use during your stay, however guests must bring their own towels for use on the beach.

Downstairs there is a spacious lounge with beamed ceiling and bow window to take full advantage of the harbour views. The lounge includes a wood-burning stove that makes it extra cosy in the winter. Adjoining the lounge is a fully equipped kitchen/diner in which you will find all the usual kitchen equipment as well as: dishwasher, washer/dryer, fridge, freezer, table and chairs for 6.

Outside, with the harbour located immediately beyond, the front patio area provides a lovely spot to enjoy your morning coffee while taking in the views of boats bobbing and indulging in some people spotting - including watching people jumping into the water from the harbour wall or cliffs! Where the enclosed back patio proves to be a sun trap in the evening to ensure you can enjoy the last of the day while listening to the sound of the sea. In practical terms there is also a clothes line and airers for drying your beach wear ready for your next day of adventure. There is unrestricted on-road parking to the rear of the property and a private parking area to the side.

Portreath is a North Cornish coastal village nestled in a valley between imposing cliffs. It's beautiful sandy beach is ideal and safe for bathing and watersports because of its often sheltered situation and RNLI lifeguard cover. Portreath village includes shops, restaurants, takeaways and is accessible with a train station in Redruth (5 miles) and a regular bus service.

Getting around

There is a regular bus service running through Portreath to locations including Redruth, Truro, Newquay, Perranporth, Hayle and St Ives. Making it a suitable location for holidaying even if you do not drive.

Interaction with guest

Guests will be provided with our information pack electronically before their stay, a copy of this is also available in the house. A couple of days before your stay you will receive a unique key safe code and you will be able to retrieve the keys from the key safe on your arrival at the property. We are in Wiltshire but readily available by phone and email to assist with any questions and have a cleaning/maintenance team (along with lots of family members) local to the property that we can call on to help if necessary.

Just spent a wonderful week at Camellia Cottage with my partner Mark as soon as we walked in it felt so nice. Home from home everything spotlessly clean, everything you need, Nice deep bath and powerful shower Comfortable bed and great views from the landing of the sea and outdoor space looking out onto the harbour Great position 2 minute walk from the lovely beach Made friends with the locals at the Bassett Arms we ate there several times food and drinks were great! Lovely coastal cliff walks on either side of the beach, Ate at the Baitshed on the harbour highly recommend Good for local shopping Costcutters and the bakery were very reasonable to pick up everything you need. If your after a holiday which is a nice quiet get away in a lovely quaint seaside town where everyone is friendly this is for you we definitely recommend and we will be back. “Brilliant Family Holiday”
