Location, location, location.... Up on a Hill is located in the most unique, picturesque and private setting, set high up in the undulating hills of Herefordshire. It's position, in a large open field, commands amazing far reaching views of the surrounding Herefordshire countryside and the beautiful Black Mountains.

The three cabins, cosy shepherds hut and communal field kitchen all enjoy these wonderful views. Most of our guests say that the photos do not do the views justice!

Each good sized cabin has a standard double bed and two floor mattresses, however there is room for a fifth guest if required. The warm carpeted floor, two bedside cabinets, a chest of drawers, bunting and lanterns all make the tent feel homely and welcoming.

Outside we have a large communal field kitchen, that is an under covered area fitted with all electric appliances, crockery, cutlery, saucepans, plastic glasses and utensils you will need for a great stay. There are also mens and ladies toilets each with a fitted shower, toilet and wash handbasin.

For the evenings, watch the sunset over Hay Bluff and enjoy a glass, fire up the BBQ or have a sing-a-long around our large fire-pit /chiminea. Let the kids enjoy the outdoor space, kick a football, throw a frisbee or play rounders. Summer evenings don't get much better!!

Our range of on-site activities, has something for all!! Try your hand at Being a Viking for the Day!! We offer sessions of Archery, Axe Throwing and several Nordic Throwing games. We also offer Junior & Adult Paintball and Laserclayz. Because we run them, we can be very flexible and always try and fit in around you and your plans. Try one or let us devise a package to try them all!!

If activities aren't your thing, that's fine, we have the most amazing countryside on our doorstep, walk the footpaths, visit the local pubs, admire the historical Dore Abbey, hike the Black Mountains or simply enjoy the red kites, buzzards and other forms of wildlife from the glamping site.

Getting around

Our site is conveniently located 30 mins from the M50. We are 12 miles away from the Cathedral city of Hereford and the pretty market towns of Hay on Wye, Abergavenny, Monmouth and Ross on Wye. We are 10 mins drive from the large village of Ewyas Harold with its village shop, two public houses (serving food), butchers, playground, fish and chip shops and play cafe. Lots of local pubs serving traditional food.

Interaction with guest

Lisa will meet and greet you at the campsite. She and her family, are Herefordians who have lived around this area all their lives, they are happy to chat about where to go, what to see and what to do. Please just ask.
