Description

The house, in the medieval center of town near the old castle, has an amazing view overlooking the Mediterranean sea and the surrounding countryside. The attractive renovation joined two adjacent medieval houses, along the old medieval wall, to create a single house over three floor levels. Located along a high point of the town, both living room and kitchen/dining have balconies from where one can see most of the northern shore of Sicily. The House is fully furnished, it has two bedrooms, a living room and a kitchen/dining room, a full bathroom, a half bathroom and a small utility room with a washing machine. The kitchen's counter and main stairs are built with traditional handmade Sicilian tiles made in Santo Stefano di Camastra. There is air conditioning in the master bedroom, however, the town being at 730 m above sea level remains fairly cool most of the summer. The house caretaker speaks English fairly well and can be helpful in many ways, such as local information, cleaning and babysitting.

Getting around

Driving along E90 it takes 1:15 Hours to get to center of Palermo, 1:45-2:00 to the airport at Punta Raisi 1:30 to Messina. Gong along the SS113 it takes about 20 min to get to Cefalù; the drive to Castelbuono also takes about 20 minutes. Parking: The house is locate in the upper section the old medieval part of the city and is hard to access directly by car (you need a permit and a very small car). You can access the upper section of Pollina by a modern road that takes you to a drop off point called " i Palazzi" less than 100 m from the house, parking is along the road that leads to the "Palazzi", In regular summer days you can park within 200 m of the house during festivals or theater performance it can be longer but there is a shuttle

Interaction with guest

Guests will be meet by the house care taker at a convenient arrival point. She will take you to the house show you were things are and provide you with keys. Before you leave you must arrange with her to hand back the keys. The caretaker speaks English fairly well and can be helpful in many ways, such as local information, cleaning and babysitting.
