This single storey cottage takes its unusual name from the field nearby. It is very pleasant with a sunny outlook. The arched doorway leads, on to its own enclosed patio area where you can relax, and maybe have a barbeque. This property would suit a larger family, or those who just like more space.

“Christmas holiday”

The accommodation is fabulous. Warm, cosy and spacious. Loved everything about it. Really nice touch - the mince pies and mulled wine and of course the Christmas tree. Can’t wait to go back.

Response from the manager Thank you very much for taking time to write a review for The Gew. We must apologise for the absence of lighting at the rear of the cottages. There was a fault that we did not notice until after you left and would have happily let you park in a different place until it was fixed, had we known. Thank you for bringing to our attention the problem of the temperature in the lounge. This is a mystery, particularly as the rest of the house was warm. There are two radiators, both with adjustable thermostats in the room which is normally sufficient, but we will check this out in case there is a problem. We also provide logs on request. We value the opinions of our guests, particularly where it highlights areas where we can improve our services. We pride ourselves on the many positive reviews that we receive and If you would like to come and stay again, we would be very pleased to see you.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.
