“Very nice indeed” Had a lovely time at this cottage. Hot tub was of course as amazing as you would expect! Owners were friendly and helpful. Garden was very secure for the dogs. Location was excellent and whilst there were neighbours we rarely saw anyone - which we liked. We were surprised to get home from an outing once to find the owner inside the property carrying out maintenence without telling us and he also turned up un-announced twice, which we werent really keen for. Was generally tidy and the little extra's were very nice. The vodka was lovely! Thanks. Would recommend to others but would not return.

“Peaceful, rustic charm with luxury” Wonderfully situated cottage with views of Tintern abbey. An excellent base to explore the Wye Valley, and the added attraction of pubs and restaurants within easy walking distance. The cottage itself has everything you would need, and is tastefully decorated. Luxurious and comfortable bedding. Comfy sofas in living room and attractive dining room. Kitchen well equipped though we did have a few problems working out the oven (having accidentally switched it off, which we had been warned not to do, so our fault). The woodburning stove a real focal point and welcomed in the wild February weather! It was a bit of a pain having to remember (in our case write down) a code to open the door instead of having a key, especially in the pouring rain, but I suppose it is easier to manage than keys. My only suggestion would be having a small porch outside that door for weather protection as it is not pleasant punching in numbers to open a door with rain pouring on you. But I am perhaps being a bit picky and overall the experience was excellent, and we would definitely book again. Must also note charming and helpful owners, Malcolm and Fiona.

“Great little hideaway” Howle Hideaway is a real gem hidden in the depth's of the Herefordshire countryside. The house has been beautifully decorated throughout to a very high standard and was a real 'cosy' place to stay as a couple. The property had a very large open plan lounge and kitchen with the bedroom on the first floor (via a quite tight spiral staircase). The owners of the property were very helpful and were willing to help out when we encountered problems with the weather (it snowed very heavily when we were there). There is also a lovely pub about a mile away which does grea food. All in all a great little hideaway for a romantic getaway from it all!

“Ramble around Ross!” We had a super stay here and did plenty of walking directly from the cottage. The cottage itself was very clean and well equipped but the shower-room sink made wet shaving rather difficult! Similarly the circular stairway did not allow much freedom, but all in all...super!

“Stunning views over the Usk Valley” We chose Gilwern as we have previously visited the area and always planned to go back. We arrived and were given a warm and friendly reception by Nicola. Nothing was too much trouble. The property is brilliant, lots of space and a bedroom with a balcony and views to die for out across the Usk valley to Sugarloaf and the Black Mountains. The property is sited about 1 mile from Gilwern centre which has all the basic amenities - minimarket, petrol, pubs, newsagent, pharmacy, doctors surgery and even a chip shop. Just down the road is the town of abergavenny with a superb range of food and other shops as well as several supermarkets. Arrange a visit in September to coincide with the abergavenny food festival. Gilwern sits on The Heads of the Valley road so access to Cardiff, Swansea, the Brecon Beacons and Brecon town, the Forest of Dean and the Black Mountains is simplicity itself. If driving is not your cup of tea then there is walking in all directions and of all standards on the doorstep. The Brecon Beacons Horseshoe is a challenging walk and again only about 40 minutes drive to the start. There is even the Monmouth and Breckon canal with towpath a few hundred yards down the lane. Industrial archeaology abounds with Blaenarvon Iron Works (World Heritage site), Clydach gorge and iron works and Blorenge Mountain and its network of tramways and quarries all within 10 miles. We loved every minute of our stay. The only downside is that the local pub is at the bottom of the hill that leads up to the Coach-house, alright going, a challenge for the return journey. The best bit, we're booked in already for next year

INGLESIDE, family friendly, character holiday cottage, with a garden in Adsett

Westbury on Severn house

  • 6 bedrooms
  • 4 bathrooms

“Great” With family ages ranging from 18 months to 78 we were worried about how we would all fit in. But thanks to the layout, and several sitting areas, the whole week went without a hitch. The lovely house was in excellent condition, with the kitchen being very well stocked with appliances. The bedlinen was excellent. The garden was beautiful and with the advantage of a field/paddock attached, the older children had freedom to play football, boules, rounders and even had water fights. We would certainly go again.

“Very peacefuland relaxing.” I believe we were in Wards Court 1. We were in Wards Court 2 earlier in the year because some of the family came to stay for a short while. That must tell you how much we liked the place to back again. The home is very well equiped and very comfortable. With a restaurant on the ground floor run by the owner with excellent food and a pub 2 doors away - need I say more! It was agreat base for walking - our passion. Mrs Phillips, the owner, is a gem, very kind and attentive. There was nothing to dislike about the holiday. In fact we shall probably go back again next year.

“Perfect cottage, perfect location, perfect owners” I stayed at the cottage in april with two elderly people, one of whom was in a wheelchair. The facilities were fantastic for disabled visitors. The cottage looked like we were the first occupants, it was in pristine condition - we were really surprised to learn that it had been a rental cottage for around 2 years. The owners were lovely - nothing was too much trouble, although they were not intrusive. The location is absolutely beautiful - on the side of a hill in the Brecon foothills, with fantastic views and a field of very friendly sheep adjacent to the garden. We loved it so much that immediately re-booked when we got home to take my granddaughters there in the Summer holidays.

“Fantastic Christmas Getaway !” Can not recommend this property highly enough - Great quality of fixtures and fittings and the best equipped kitchen, a couple of amateur cooks could ever wish for. Being set on the farm with Skirrd Mountain in the background made a great base for walking and exploring the best the Brecons have to offer.

Tintern Abbey Cottage
A little patch of heaven

This cottage is beautiful with stunning views, there are several pubs/hotels within walking distance that do fabulous food. Chepstow is a short drive away to get supplies. If you stay it's worth checking if the races are on. We saw lots of wild birds in the garden and sat out in the garden in the evening listening to Barn Owls and Tawny Owls. Lots to do locally, we visited The Big Pit and Roman Museum (free) Puzzlewood, Symonds Yat and Chepstow Castle. In fact, we loved it so much, we've booked to go next year see more
Foxes Reach (Holiday Cottage Nr Tintern, Wales)
Luxury Self Catering accommadation

We have stayed at Foxes Reach twice. We find the house is a good base, for our trips into The Forest of Dean and countless other places of interest. Each night after our daily adventures we would unwind in the hot tub and gaze at the stars...fantastic. We are planning another trip next year to this lovely house.see more
