Description

Rum Island Cabin is a cozy, one room cabin on the Santa Fe River and springs in north central Florida. Rum Island Park is 1/4 mile walk along the river, and the cabin sits about 100 feet from a small clear spring. We are close to High Springs (6 mi.) and Gainesville (25 mi.) High Springs is known for antiques and restaurants. Gainesville is the home of the Gators, and has many museums, shops, and nightlife.

We are located on 10 acres of mostly undeveloped and rustic land. Kayaking, canoeing, snorkeling, and floating the river and exploring the springs are the major activities. There is world renowned cave-diving 1 mile up the river at Ginnie Springs. Other activities include hiking, bird watching, and enjoying the close by state parks.

Rum Island Cabin is a low tech, peaceful escape into nature that sleeps 2, has bath with shower, small refrigerator, microwave and hotplate, A/C, heat and ceiling fan; barbecue , picnic table and fire ring outside. We provide all linens, towels, kitchen utensils, dishes, and silverware.

The cabin is at one end of our 10 acre property near the river and spring. Our residence is at the other end. We are almost always personally available for questions or problems and always available by phone.

“Went with my kids to relax and the experience was very nice.”

Right in the middle of nature. Enjoyed sitting on the porch soaking it all in. The spring is beautiful and only a minute or two from the cabin. Very relaxing.

“Total Relaxation, reconnect with Nature.”

The cabin is very clean, cozy and comfortable, and the location is out of sight sorrounded by nature and beauty. Both County and State Parks surround it with lots of outdoor activities. Walking and hiking is spectacular, rejuvenating, lots of wild life and lots of picture perfect spots.The Host's are very warm and friendly, also very helpful. An absolutely wonderful stay and a definite must!!!
