Deadwood log cabin

2 bedrooms / 1 bathroom / sleeps 5

“Spectacular!!” We waited many years to visit the Black Hills and were looking for a cabin that was secluded by convenient to restaurants, sights and shopping and we found this and more in Mountain Crest. Tom has provided everything his guests could possibly need and you really only have to bring your clothes and your sense of adventure. To say we enjoyed our stay here is an understatement. This place is absolutely fantastic from the wrap around porch to the valley views. We especially enjoyed seeing the chipmunks and deer around the cabin each day. If you are looking for a peaceful and relaxing place to stay with out of this world views, this is the place for you.

“Great location with lots of options.” The lodge was clean and had plenty of room for everyone to roam. Lots of deck space (which could use a little shade), with a great view of Deadwood and the surrounding hills. The lodge had a ton of character, with the flooring and large doors being the center of attention. The kitchen is large, stocked with everything you'll need, and includes a very nice grill just a few steps away. We spent two days in and out of the house, going to and from downtown, and couldn't have been happier with the location. Some weren't a fan of the steep walk, which could be trouble during the winter, but quickly forgot because it only lasts a few minutes. I would recommend this for any type of get together. You'll have a great time.

“Lovely Cottage” This is a lovely cottage right on the edge of town but within walking distance of downtown. The house was cute, clean and very comfortable for our group of 7. We greatly enjoyed the hottub, even in single digit weather and the fireplace in the livingroom added a nice, toasty feeling to the cold evening.

“Fantastic cabin in the Black hills of South Dakota” Just spent three nights at the cabin, what a fantastic find, everything about if was superb. Mary was a great host and very helpful. The setting is idyllic and very peaceful with beautiful views across the meadow. The cabin is equipped with everything you need, and is the best equipped we have ever come across. Very comfy and cosy especially when the snow came. We hope to return and explore more of South Dakota in the future and wouldn't look to stay anywhere else.

“If you're looking for serene, this is it (except for the vocal p” Ok, so I never saw the peacock, but my buddy from Colorado knew what it was! It was vocal and watch for deer driving in. Deadwood is closer than a trip to 7/11 and this place is clean, feels like your parent's or grandparents place (I'm 45) and is really relaxing. Close to Deadwood/Lead, but is secluded. We had 2 Families of 3 each and had more than enough room.Great base camp for Black Hills activities. I live in Sioux Falls and my buddy in Boulder. They made a side trip to Devils Tower and we made a side trip to Firehouse brewery in Rapid City and all was good! Not a one night stand type of place, Next time I would reserve 3-5 days rather than 2. (there is no "service", it's pretty much like going to your own cabin. I left 10 brats from Fareway in the freezer, I hope someone enjoyed them : ) We ate some of the eggs and bacon left before us.)

“Excellent accommodation and service” We had a extremely comfortable 4 night stay here. The house is well maintained and presented.I think Debra had thought of everything her guests could need while on vacation. From the extremely comfortable beds to the out door seating and barbecue everything was perfect. The breakfast basket was a lovely surprise on our first morning and nothing was ever too much trouble including the use of the washer & dryer which was greatly appreciated. We would definitely stay here again if visiting the area. Thank you so much for your hospitality Debra

About Deadwood

The South Dakota town of Deadwood has long been revered as one of the most legendary US towns during the wild frontier days. Interesting museums, beautiful scenery from the Black Hills, and a wide array of casinos have kept visitors coming back and made it one of the biggest vacation getaways in the region. Most of the restaurants and shops in Deadwood can be found on Main Street, but there's something to explore on just about every street in the area.

Here are just a few of the must-see attractions and activities in Deadwood:

  • Adams House Museum: Built by the family of Benjamin Franklin, this historic mansion has been kept in pristine condition and tours of the estate are offered year-round.
  • Mount Moriah Cemetery: In addition to being the grave site of legendary figures from the Old West like Wild Bill and Calamity Jane, the cemetery is located on a steep hill that offers amazing views of the whole town.
  • Tatanka: This site explores the history of the bison that were in excess of 30 million at one point, but nearly extinct by the end of the 19th century.
  • Go Gambling: Midnight Star and Silverado Casino are two of the many top-notch casinos that can be found throughout town.
  • Nelson's Garage Car Museum: Some of the most recognizable automobiles from TV and film can be found here including the Jeep from M-A-S-H and the Aston Martin from the first James Bond film.

The majority of the sporting events and musical performances that take place here typically occur during the summer months, but there's plenty to do here whenever you decide to visit. Admire the elaborate costumes and floats at the parade along Main Street for Deadwood Mardi Gras in February, watch some of the top poker players from throughout the US compete at the Deadwood Poker Shootout Tournament in April, and cheer on the riders when the rodeo comes to town in July.

Whether you're looking for a condo with picturesque views, or a cozy and rustic cabin in one of the more remote areas of town, there's a vacation rental that will put you exactly where you want to be in this lovely town. There are properties available throughout Deadwood that can easily accommodate large groups of people and cater to all budget types.

While there are plenty of attractions and things to do in Deadwood, some of the biggest attractions in South Dakota are also within a short drive of town. If you have some extra time to explore, Black Hills National Forest and the Mount Rushmore National Memorial can both be reached within one hour by car.

Nice little house

This house was very quaint with gorgeous antique furniture. It has 2 nice sized bedrooms and plenty of room for a family of four. There was not a kitchen, but there is a small fridge, microwave, toaster and coffee pot. They also provide dishware for use with these appliances. It was clean and had everything available that we needed. Deadwood is a great little town and we enjoyed our stay there.see more

Deadhouse review.

My wife, my two brother's, my two sister's, my brother in law, my sister in law, and myself rented the deadwood house for the 4th of July holiday. We just loved it! Lots of beds, bathrooms, and convenient location to downtown. We will rent again of we ever head back to So. Dakota. The only set back was the air quit on us and it got a little warm the last night we were there, but the ceiling fans worked great.see more
