“This is a gorgeous and spacious lake home with plenty of amentities for adults and child. 5 Stars!!!!” This property is on a gorgeous location on top of a small hill. The view of the lake from the house is breathtaking. Our group enjoyed our stay thoroughly and we took full advantage of the amenities in the property like out door fire pit, hammock, boats/kayak allowed by the home-owner to be used by us. The house has enough space--we were a group of 9 people and the space was ample however there is only one shower so that might be a limitation. the kitchen was very spacious and had all the stuff needed for cooking. It would have been nice if there was a functional grill for using outdoors--the one that was there was kind of old and did not work very well. There was some strange odor in the dishwasher but that might be because of its limited usage. Overall, this place is highly recommended for vacation stay. The owners were really nice and friendly and the view and location is absolutely spectacular! My Response Thank you for your kind words. I do want to say that we have replaced the outdoor grill. I'm sorry you had trouble with it. I checked the dishwater also but could not smell or see anything in the trap. We disconnected the plumbing to examine and clean. Whatever the odor was, it's gone. “Very nice place for my elderly grandparents to stay!” Very nice place for my grandparents to spend a night. Beautiful, secluded, neat as a pin...would refer to others for sure! Also--very nice trails throughout the campground. Have ridden horse through as trails are nicely groomed.

“Great Location” My family just spent 8 days in Nassau at Ocean Paradise. It was a fantastic location for a relaxing beach vacation. We swam in the ocean every day and enjoyed the fabulous views/ The house was in good shape and very well suited to families.I have used Vrob for many years and Catherine was a great hostess. We will definitely book this house again.

“perfect” We love Oar Island. It is the perfect vacation place for families with children of different ages, or just a couple. There is hiking, sunning, relaxation, but mostly what we love about Oar Island is the isolation. It is an adventure as well, since the only way to get there is by the little motorboat. It is a getaway for certain kinds of people; but if you prefer the Marriott type of stay, this is not that kind, it is much more "out-doorsy".

“Great RRV Getaway -- Quiet & Remote, yet Conveniently Located to” We rented this updated house for Thanksgiving.We were a party of 6: grandparents,adult children & 2 grandchildren.We stayed in the downstairs, and the kids and grandkids stayed in the upstairs 2 BR with one large bathroom (with jacuzzi tub, shower stall & sauna) and a separate 1/2 bath.The house itself has one large living & kitchen area, with an eating bar,upstairs,with a second living area and kitchenette downstairs, which has an additional exterior door). We did not realize that the upstairs & downstairs aren't connected "inside"-you have to use the outside stairs to go from one area to the other. It's not a big deal and it provided a bit of separation from the noise and commotion of the kiddos.Overall,the house updated: updates in the kitchen,bathrooms,downstairs,central heat, Wifi,etc.Yet very comfortable and quaint with electric fireplaces (no wood burning),views of the redwoods from every window & large outdoor decks.The decks wrap around the house and provide privacy if you choose to use the hot tub or sit outside and enjoy the porch views of the trees & the RR. With latching gates at the top of the stairs, it was safe for the 3 yr old.The kitchen is a bit tight,but it is fully equipped with a nice frig,new gas range,new dishwasher.We cooked a full Thanksgiving dinner(always a challenge in someone else's kitchen),there were plenty of dishes,utensils,service wear, pots,pans,etc.The upstairs:full bath and half bath are adjacent to the living area.The upstairs beds are very comfy,with nice furniture and finishing.The sheets and towels are all very new and fluffy.The primary bathroom is huge, with a large Jacuzzi and the separate shower.The bathroom has a zen vibe-very relaxing.The half-bath is convenient with a crowd.We walked down the steps to the river,enjoyed the scenic fall views of the RR.Fun!The owner was delightful to work with & gave us plenty of info,good directions.Very helpful!

“We all love the place” This house is both casual and luxurious. The lakeside house has great beds, nice sheets, a well-equipped kitchen, an amazing open and scenic living room, a lovely garden surrounding the house and lots to do in the area. I've enjoyed walking on and exploring the area along the shore, wading out into the lake to swim, relaxing in the hammock, and cycling on the many country roads. I've stayed there several times, with and without my kids, and we all love the place.

“A Classy Vacation Experience in any Season” My brother, who has problems walking, and I stayed at Sunnybank for a little under a week in the early spring when the Corolla horses are foaling. The layout of the well-appointed, three-storey main building was perfect for our needs: the fabulous view from the top floor living room provided the inspiration for him to walk up the grand stair case, and he could take the elevator when he was having problems walking. (There are two bedrooms with walk-in showers to accommodate people who have a problem walking.) It rained the first two days, which might have been gloomy any where else, but the library of videos, and stashes of games and playing cards gave us the opportunity to connect in ways that we hadn't since we were children. The fabulous cook's kitchen and multiple eating areas can accommodate a wedding party, family reunion, or any get away time one might want. Mine was a working vacation and the office there, which is outfitted with excellent Ethernet and WiFi connections plus a daybed for napping, was a better arrangement than my office at home. Comfort and casual, yet classy ambience abounds at Sunnybank. An excellent find!

“Super Friendly” Great folks running this place. They really give the home town experience with amenities of a major hotel. This property is right next to a beautiful lake. The options are great for either the relaxed weekend or if you want to water skiing or out on a boat to fish it is all there. “Celebrated Our 25th Anniversary at Maya Cala!” This villa was perfect for our 25th Anniversary. We took a pontoon boat out on the lake and renewed our wedding vows in the water of the Bacalar lake at sunset. The home is very private, very safe, well stocked kitchen. The lake was so awesome from the home and gardens bloomed everywhere around the home. There are some secret surprises thru out the gardens that are for surprise as you stroll thru them. We seen alot of beautiful birds s! It was awesome being in the wildlife so much as Maya Cala provides. We used bug repellent in the evenings at the lake and that worked fine for us. We swam directly from the home, a great dock and we kayaked alot along the banks of the lake. Great little local towns fun to check out and don't miss a sunset trip on the lake in a boat. Thank you Sally for your allowing us to use your awesome home for our 25th Anniversary.and heard monkeys, never got to see one but sure think they were the ones making noise

“We called it Paradise!” The place was AMAZING. The pictures online are awesome; the place in real life is breathtaking. The house is small. Two tiny bedrooms, one with a full(?) sized bed in it and the other with two twins. There's a little living room with a futon. A small bathroom inside and then the gorgeous outdoor bathroom attached to the master bedroom. I've never been in an outdoor bathroom before but it was crazy cool...especially at night when you light the candles! The house itself is very tastefully decorated. It has a beachy/nautical theme, but not gaudy, just perfect. Don't worry about the smallness of the house, though, because you seriously won't spend any time inside. The whole property is designed for the guests to be outside. We spent a ton of time on the blue outdoor couches, watching our 5 year old in the pool with the ocean in the background and listening to the waves or the music from the sonos system (an awesome touch!). Hilda, Euris and Papo are great. Hilda makes the best food and even taught me how to make flan (I recommend asking her to make that). Euris is so easy to be around. He drove us to the Parque Nacional Jaragua. My husband, who speaks Spanish, learned a lot about the area from him. They got along great! Papo kept the pool clean for our daughter and even tolerated her "helping" him. He spends a lot of time keeping the grounds looking so great. And his bonfires are the biggest we'd ever seen. We like our privacy and we're a little worried about having staff around all the time, but all three were so friendly and unobtrusive that it felt like a true paradise. When we booked the house we had planned for it to be just me, my husband and our daughter. Our in-laws were with us for the first part of our vacation and then we had planned to split up for our stay at Las Guayacanes but due to some miscommunication, they were without a place to stay for the first night. We invited them to stay with us until their place in Santo Domingo was ready. They ended up staying two nights (even though they were paying for a hotel room in the capital) because the property was so great. Euris drove them into the city when they were ready to leave. A few days later we decided to drive into the city to visit with them and invited them back to paradise for our last two nights . Again they agreed whilst still having to pay for their hotel room in the city(again). That's how great the place is!!! Also Edmundo is a great host. He responses are very quick and he'll readily answer any questions you have. He's done a great job with the rental. It's fantastic.

“Awesome weekend!” The only thing wrong is that it went by too fast. Everything was very clean and stocked with everything! There was a huge snowstorm and everything was beautiful except the hot tub's cover froze! Can't fault mother nature! We'll definitely be back!!!

“"At home" In Polhena” Our family is spread across the globe, separated by time and space. Twice a year we all need to be together. The house in Polhena was perfect for our reunion. We loved the outdoor living and dining "rooms" in a gorgeous and very spacious garden setting, surrounded by green, and with the rhythm of the pounding surf as background music. We love to cook, and even though the indoor kitchen is very spacious, we moved the gas stove into the "outdoor kitchen" and even did our meal preparation outdoors. There were six of us, and the young people had the three bedrooms in the house, very comfortable, each with its own bath and door to the garden outside. My wife and I stayed in the "little house" in the corner of the garden, with its own bath, kitchen and terrace. It has a very large bedroom with an extra bed in it. The entire villa could easily support two families, 10 persons, or 4 couples. There is no air conditioning, but the fact is, we spent most of our time outdoors except for sleeping. There are ceiling fans in the bedroom and at the end of December, that was just fine. The house is on the sea, at the end of a dirt road, no other development around it, so it was very isolated and very quiet. We took tuk-tuks into town to do our grocery shopping, and to the fish market every morning for fresh fish, squid, shrimp, and lobster. Everything we needed was available in town. Spectacular beaches like Mirissa and Talalla are also within tuk-tuk distance and we enjoyed those on most days. We were able to rent a van and driver to go farther afield to explore the country, Galle, for example. If you are expecting a five star resort, this is not it. No one brings you breakfast or washes your dishes. But, if you are looking for a home away from home, an exotic setting, a house with character and charm where you can spend time with family or friends without disturbances of any kind, this is for you!
