“Perfect!” My husband and I stayed here in April 2015 with our 10yr. old daughter. The Condo was perfect. Very tastefully decorated, and very clean. The owner took a lot of thinking into everyone's needs that would be staying here. Both bathrooms were stocked with multiple toiletries, all kitchen appliances necessary, including coolers for the beach. Beach chairs, beach towels, games, baby equipment and the list goes on. The location was absolutely perfect. We rented a car so did a lot of exploring but if you do not rent a car, you will not miss it. Everything you need is within walking distance or a very short taxi ride for groceries. I was a little worried about the condo being so close to the airport, although very convenient, I thought it would be somewhat of a disturbance with the airplanes flying over. We never even noticed the airplanes! That was not an issue. We had soooo much wonderful food in Puerto Rico but I must say, One of my very favorite things was walking down the beach, to the left and getting fish taco's. It is about 1 block down from condo if you are facing the ocean. We like fine dining and have tried fish tacos from all over, even the ones from Cabo do not compare with these. We were skeptical at first, but you will not regret or "get sick" if you try! The leasing agent and owner both were very friendly and very timely will all responses. Comparing this condo to a hotel, you can not beat the price. We normally stay in luxury hotels but because our daughter was with us, we did not spend the extra money. We made an excellent choice and would absolutely stay here again.

“One of the best vacations I've ever had” This villa has two-bedrooms, two-bathrooms, beautiful kitchen, great balcony and comfy living room. It housed ten of us comfortably (1 king sized bed, 2 queen sized beds, 1 full sized bed, 1 futon). The showers were fine - using them both at the same time often decreased water pressure a bit. The kitchen is fully stocked with kitchenware. There are supermarkets on highway 3 not too far from the resort. There is cable and aC so we ended up hanging out in the villa a decent amount. While the beach isn't the prettiest that Puerto Rico has to offer, we definitely got use out of it and spent nearly every day there. The pool area has a kiddie pool, infinity pool, laps pool, and hot tub. This area was is primarily for those living in the villa and was never really crowded. It is also very close to the hotel pool and bar if a renter wishes to interact and meet new people. This area of Puerto Rico is only about a ten minute drive to the Rainforest. My friends and I enjoyed spending a morning/afternoon at El Yunque National Rainforest Park. Such proximity to the rainforest did not provide 24/7 sunshine. We did get rain here and there everyday. San Juan is about a 40-minute drive away, and we ended up going there three times out of our six days - I recommend renting cars (we used Enterprise, and they were great!). This also meant that we decided against "going out" to clubs/bars in San Juan because we would've had to designate drivers to drive back really late at night. From the very first moment we were interested, Diana had been in constant communication with us. She made the whole process of planning our Spring Break so easy and efficient. When we were finally there and settled in at the pool, Jesus came by to introduce himself and welcome us. Then, all ten of us were invited one night to come over to their other property for some drinks and hors d'oeuvres. This was a great experience, and I definitely hope to come back (she'll be the first one I contact).

“Calypso condo stay was paradise!!!” We recently returned from a weeks vacation to St. Croix where we stayed at Calypso Condo C-2 in the gated community of Gentle Winds and had a fabulous time!!! The condo was immaculate upon arrival and Angela, the unit manager, stocked us with some groceries I requested so we didn't have to go out at night when we first arrived. There were six of us and with the three bedrooms, three bathrooms, three balconies and the loft area we did not feel crowded. Barbara, the owner, thought of everything to make our stay enjoyable and a home away from home. The book Life in the Left Lane, the bottle of champagne in the fridge, the starfish necklaces and the gift certificate to the Snack shack were complimentary gifts to us for staying there. It was a vey nice finishing touch by Barbara and very much appreciated. The kitchen was very well-equipped. There were so many books, Wii games, VHS movies, DVDs, and board games for all ages to choose from. It was nice having a grill to cookout on since we don't always like to eat out and as we found out food in St. Croix is expensive. I would definitely come back to St. Croix and stay at Calypso Condo again in a heartbeat !!!! The view was breathtaking, the beach gorgeous and the pool refreshing. The grounds at Gentle Winds were beautifully kept and the people there including the guard, the groundskeepers, and the woman who ran the Snack Shack were very polite. Staying there in early June had its benefits. I truly felt we had the whole place to ourselves. Besides us there were maybe 6 units out of 65 that were occupied at the time. No fighting for chaise lounges at the beach or pool.. A nice perk of the off season. Before leaving for St. Croix Barbara made sure we had directions from the airport to the condo and how to access the lockbox should the unit be locked. She also stressed checking out her website which had extremely helpful tips and suggestions one should know before arriving. I was also impressed that early on in our stay Barbara called and sent me an email checking in with us to see that everything was going well. We did so many fun activities while in St. Croix- stand up paddle boarding , snorkeling, kayaking, relaxing on the beach, shopping in Christiansted, touring the Cruzan Rum Factory, watching the sunset at Off the Wall restaurant while playing bingo and watching the sunrise at Point Udall. Needless to say we were all very sad to leave but have so many fond memories and beautiful pictures.

“Clean apartment in safe area, lovely hosts, beautiful beach, convenient to all area attractions” I stayed here Thanksgiving week 2014 with my husband and 3 children: 12, 14, and 16. We had the most wonderful experience and would gladly return. I am happy to recommend it to you. Everything you read in the other reviews about the hosts, Kevin and Madelin, is true. They are incredibly friendly, responsive, and responsible people. I had corresponded with Madelin through FlipKey, but it was Kevin who met us at the car rental place and guided us to the apartment, which is situated about 25 minutes east of the airport in a small town called Loiza. As Kevin explained to me that first evening, there are 3 ways to get there, and during the course of our stay we tried all 3. The coastal road (the straightest shot from the airport) is best suited for daytime driving, especially if it is your first time in the area, but it became my favorite way to get to and from San Juan. Anyway, Kevin was great about showing us the apartment that first evening, telling us how everything worked, giving us some helpful tips, then leaving us to explore on our own. We were pleased to see that groceries, including milk, juice, bread, cheese, and ham had been provided for us. It made us feel very welcome! For the remainder of the trip, they remained very easy to communicate with, responding to texts immediately. That meant a lot to me. About the apartment: It is very modern and immaculately clean. Everything we needed that week was there: cooking implements, sheets, towels, beach paraphernalia, detergents. It felt very comfortable and convenient. The place is not big, but felt perfect for our family of 5. There are two balconies and when you keep their sliding doors open, you get a nice cross breeze in the apartment and can enjoy the sounds of the surrounding nature in the evening. We did not need to turn on the air conditioning a single time. The apartment is in a fairly extensive, gated condo complex, which was quite empty of others for the week that we were there. The apartments seem mostly owned by folks who live in the city and who either rent them or use them on the weekends. (Things were a little livelier there on the weekend, we noticed). It felt a little strange to be there (almost) by ourselves, but it was something we quickly got used to and enjoyed. It was quiet! And it felt very safe, which I came to appreciate as well. The guards and other staff of the condo complex were friendly and helpful. There was plenty of parking, too. Now for the best thing: the beach! The apartment complex has its own stretch of beach which was beautiful and very clean. We hung out there for several hours every day. The tide was high most of the times we were there (low tides were 7pm and 5 am or so), and the waves were quite high. Good for romping, but not dangerous. The water was warm and clean. Sand was very soft. And the views were truly lovely. The apartment was a good choice for the beach alone. A note: you need a key to get to the beach, as well as to the pools on the property. You do need to keep an eye on that key! The guards come around and close the gates if they see them standing open. It was explained to us that it wasn't safe to leave the beach gate open for outsiders to wander in. Indeed, one evening we "lost" a pair of shoes on the beach to someone who apparently needed them more than we did. We had come to Puerto Rico with the idea of exploring, and we did! The apartment was perfectly located for this. The rainforest is really close, and so are the ferries to Culebra and Vieques. We went to Viequies for the day one day, taking the car on the ferry. Keep in mind that a spot on the ferries needs to be reserved ahead of time, so call as soon as you know when and where you want to go. We made our reservation the night before, and were told we were lucky because they sell out. San Juan (incl. the charming Old San Juan) is very close as well. One day we made a rather ill-fated trip to the West Coast We did not have a proper map, and kept getting lost. Then the kids got hungry. Then we got lost again. And again. By the time we got to Rincon it was almost evening. Moral of the story: buy a map before you come to PR. There are no maps to be bought anywhere, only simplistic maps that you can get for free, but no real, geographically accurate maps to be found. Or do as modern man does, travel with a GPS. We did not. Back to the apartment: There are some Western style supermarkets if you go east on the coastal road (128), then onto route 3. But there are some small local grocery stores if you go in the opposite direction, toward San Juan, including fruit and vegetable stands on the side of the road. I wish I had discovered those sooner. On the whole: would I do this again? Yes, and I hope I will one day. Would I recommend it to a friend? YES? To an enemy: NO! This is too nice for my enemies. “Well maintained, quality furnished condo with very helpful owner.” We have stayed in several different condos @ Sapphire Beach in several different price ranges. John's is by far the best maintained despite it not being the highest end priced. It also has a great bar/eating area on the lower deck. Renting from John is like renting from a friend or family member. There were no surprises from John other than I had over paid without realizing & he contacted me to let me know he was sending me a check.

“Fantastic!!!” Alex,thank you so much for renting us your beautiful apartment and for making the rental process so much easier and the service you provided. It was perfect! We all had a great time. The apartment had every comfort we could have hoped for and absolutely everything we needed. It was very well kept. The location of the apartment was good and the 3 swimming pools and its facilities were exceptional. I liked everything about it. The fact of the controls at the gates are very reassuring. I did not appreciate the attitude of the female guard towards some other guests (not within our party)where instead of directing herself verbally to him, she basically blew her whistle in his ear and pointed to him with gestures what he was doing wrong. It was the only negative thing I can mention. Once again..it was a fantastic stay and would rent the same apartment again!
