“Best view on Bali and very luxurious.” I stayed for 9 wonderful days. It is located 2 km from the nearest village, 25 minute walk on narrow jungle road that is bumpy and became unpassable 400 meters before the villa in this very rainy season so we had to walk those last meters. Car could not be used but I had my own driver. Having read the other reviews I need to make a few comments: the villa is very luxurious. The marvelous Balinese furniture is top class and super luxurious. The 4 bedrooms are great and all with great views. The pool is fantastic and was not too cold (about 20 degrees). Some will not like that temperature but most will. The owner would not swim in this time of year. He is a very nice man who stays with family in Ubud when he has guests in the villa and is on holiday on Bali. Personell is wonderful, especially Ketut, who lives with wife and child in the cottage just behind the villa, under the restaurant/bar (which is only for guests). During day he leaves you quite alone and only comes (in my case) for breakfast and dinner at agreed times. The view is more spectacular than I had imagined. Pictzres don't do it justice, You see the deep valley and behind it 9 mountains, not "Payangan range" as one reviewer says, but the high ones around the northern lakes, with Batukaru in front to the left. The top lounge has a DVD player that also plays CDs and there is a collection of 260 legal Dvds (Australian), divided (by me) in action, Drama and Comedy, alphabetically. All sorts of great films. Also other Dvds in the drawer. Villa is at 660 meters and no airco or ventilation was needed during day or night (and I normally need it more than others).I could wear what I wanted all day and evening. About the rooms: not all beds are equal. The ones on middle floor are King size (180 cm) and soft beds. The ones on lower level are 160 cm and hard mattrasses. Villa surrounded by neighbours with animals so not totally quiet. "Relaxing, quiet" will mean for reviewers that it was OK for them.

“Excellent stay in beautiful Bali” We stayed in Bali the week after celebrating Christmas in our current hometown Singapore. Bali was just beautiful and very relaxing. “Life changing experience!” Please convey my heartfelt thoughts to Wayan and Putri for their exceptional care and love that they showed my Daughter and myself during our stay. I didn't give enough credit when Wayan asked me about my preferences when we switched to staying at the home closer into Ubud. We honestly preferred the Swallowhouse after experiencing the second location because of the comfort of the beds, the fantastic night air, and the incredible culinary delights that Putri graced us with! Being a Master Chef, I have great appreciation for the meals that she provided. Also, being a world traveller, I can't express enough gratitude for the care that Wayan took for our tours and giving us a life changing trip and precious memories that I hope to build upon when we return to Bali. As two very adventurous women traveling alone, he provided all the added information and kept us safe during our entire stay. We feel incredibly honored and blessed to have visited places like the temple ceremony, his son's school, and his home compound and village, along with the authentic crafts and artisan villages that he supports. We loved seeing the "real" Bali and meeting the generations of families who share their generations of knowledge and products for those interested in having that kind of experience. Wayan asked if there were any suggestions that we could give and honestly, there is only one to have greater internet access for both Mac and Pc owners. However, I say that reluctantly, because a huge part of the charm and beauty of the Swallowhouse lies in being able to really unplug and become immersed in the culture and experience of Bali. There will always be travelers who need the upscale comforts but let them go to the big hotels ~ you honestly don't want that kind of person staying with you anyway ~ that comes from my years of working at The Ritz Carlton and Four Seasons! (high maintenance people are not fun!)
