Mountain View Lodge

Cody log cabin

3 bedrooms / 3 bathrooms / sleeps 14

“Amenities are not as advertised” The cabin is beautiful and well kept, but unfortunately we did not get what we thought we were getting based on the "The description from the owner" and the "Additional notes from the owner" found on FlipKey and the lack of a quick response and clarity from emails. The description on FlipKey from the owner makes it sound like you automatically book the "Lodge" with 3 queen beds, the kitchen, and the washer and dryer and then add one of the other suites or both. No where does it mention that the other two suites have their own kitchens but no washer/dryer access. When we arrived, it was much to our surprise that we were given the two suites with no washer/dryer access and not the Lodge, one of the main reasons we booked this site. We also didn't realize that we had to notify not only the owner (which we did) but also FlipKey on the first night (we arrived at 10:30 PM) of these discrepancies for the Peace of Mind Guarantee to apply . While the description was not accurate or clear, they did do their best to accommodate our needs and we would recommend this place to others as long as you understand you don't get to choose which suite you desire when you make your reservations through FlipKey. FlipKey only shows pictures of the Lodge not the additional two suites and only the Lodge has the washer/dryer access, larger kitchen, fire place, and patio with the fire pit.

“The best of Nature and Hospitality...and new friends to boot!” Diana and George are the perfect hosts--there when you need them but completely unobtrusive if you just want your own space. The setting is as idyllic as the website and other reviews suggest. My only hesitation in writing the glowing review that's deserved is...I just don't want the Roost booked so solid that I can't get another reservation! We enjoyed all the comforts of home as well as scenery and wildlife that provided wonderful photo opportunities and precious memories. Thanks so much. We'll be back!!

Lazy Jay Basin

Cody house

3 bedrooms / 1 bathroom / sleeps 6

“Peace and tranquility finds a home near Yellowstone.” When we were planning a trip to see Yellowstone, The Tetons and Beartooth Mountain pass I was looking for a quiet place to relax after a hard days sightseeing. I cannot believe how lucky we were to find this spot. Perfectly situated in a private basin at the northwest end of Buffalo Bill reservoir this cabin is ideally placed for access to Yellowstone and the surrounding attractions. The nearby town of Cody also has some nice spots like the Irma Hotel and nightly rodeo, and doubles as the perfect place to pick up any provisions you need. The cabin itself was ideal for my family of four. We did not even have to use the third bedroom, but it was nice to know the option was there if the kids had fallen out. The Lazy J is a very comfortable cabin and met all our needs. I could get used to sitting on that from deck watching the sun rise every day. If you are looking for peace and tranquility, but still be close enough to amenities like what Cody has to offer, then it's hard to imagine a better spot than the Lazy J Basin. If this Scottish family ever returns to the Yellowstone area then the Lazy J Basin is where we'll stay.

CreekWorks Guest House

Cody house

2 bedrooms / 1 bathroom / sleeps 4

“DO IT !” Creekworks is an excellent jumping off apartment for Yellowstone Park. If you were unable to get a reasonably priced lodging for 4 in the Park, this will do the trick, amply. Two bedrooms, one with a double bed, the other with two beds and a futon held a family of 3 and me comfortably. The kitchen is ample, well equipped, with a thoughtful roll of paper towels, coffee, coffee machine with filters, salt & pepper etc. A two hour drive took us to Old Faithful ( including traffic-stopping buffalos on the road! ) Grand Teton National Park was a 3-1/2 hour drive. AT&T cell phone worked on the Green Creek Road a little ways down from the house. Steep set of stairs—wheelchair inaccessible. No Internet. 4 STARS Walter Blass, Warren,NJ

About Cody

Are you a fan of the ol' Wild West? This is the place for you!

Be transported back to the days of Stetsons, spurs and honky-tonk pianos when you visit Cody, Wyoming.

Whether you want to stay on a ranch, in a condo or a luxury apartment, FlipKey has the perfect vacation rental for you and your family.

About Cody, Wyoming

Found in northwest Wyoming, Cody is still heavily influenced by the cowboy days of yesteryear.

Rodeos are an important part of the town calendar—it's even been nicknamed the rodeo capital of the world! If you come in the summer, be sure to check one out.

The town itself is named after Colonel William Frederick Cody—perhaps better known as 'Buffalo Bill'. He helped found the original town and is, perhaps, the most famous cowboy (apart from John Wayne, of course).

Though Bill hunted bison, not buffalo, there's no denying the influence he had on this town. See what you can discover about its past during your stay here.

However, there's much more to Cody than it's past—it's also an area of natural beauty. As you drive into town, you'll see the Shoshone River flowing through a deep canyon. And, the surrounding forests edge things off nicely.

What to do

Go to the Buffalo Bill Center of the West, where you'll find out all about—you guessed it—Buffalo Bill! But, don't worry, there are other museums too.

There’s the Draper Natural History Museum, the Plains Indians Museum, Cody Firearms Museum and Whitney Western Art museum at the same complex, but you may want to take a couple of days to do them all.

Visit Old Trail Town to find out more about the area's history—it's an accurate restoration of over 25 historic Western buildings and is great fun to explore!

Not too far away lies Yellowstone National Park—the world's first national park. Watch the water spout out of Old Faithful and other geysers. And, see if you can spot any of the locals—grizzlies, wolves and elk are all known to roam these parts.

Cody isn't only good in the summer. The winter has lots to offer too. Go on snowmobile tours, ice skate in Homesteader Park, try your hand at ice climbing or head further up the mountain for skiing.

Top travel tips

Are you flying in? You'll probably arrive at Yellowstone Regional Airport. It's worth renting a car from there so you can explore the entire area!

Thanks to its semi-arid climate, the weather varies quite a lot throughout the year. It's almost always windy, so bring a sweater or two.

Explore the stomping ground of legendary cowboy Buffalo Bill and have an exciting adventure in Cody, Wyoming. Book your vacation rental now on FlipKey to make sure you don't miss out!

Wonderful cabin in beautiful location!

We stayed here for four days and loved it. It was quiet and serene, the location was breathtaking. The cabin was clean comfortable and spacious. The restaurant next door makes an excellent steak, it was like going to a friend's house for dinner. Highly recommend staying here! … see more

The view is amazing and the cabin was perfect for us!

We stayed at Jim Creek Cabin and found it to be comfortable and very clean. The kitchen was well appointed and we had everything we needed to prepare breakfasts and dinners. It was well stocked with paper products, dish soap, and kitchen towels. The front porch swing was a favorite in the morning - the view was breathtaking. The beds were very comfortable. There is no air conditioning, but the ceiling fans and screened windows kept the cabin VERY comfortable. There is no cell service, but there was WiFi available. Overall we were VERY pleased with our 4 day stay.see more

Beautiful, relaxing stay!

This was one of the greatest places we've ever stayed in! We were secluded on a beautiful mountain surrounded by mountains, a lake, and wildlife, but only minutes away from downtown. The cabin was very comfortable and relaxing and made us feel right at home. Absolutely loved or stay and would return as well as suggest it to others!see more
