“Location & Views Fantastic, House not well maintained”
We have struggled about how to write the review for this vacation rental, which we stayed at for 14 days. The location of the house is absolutely fantastic. The views are breathtaking and amazing. The house, however, did not provide a relaxing atmosphere we were looking forward to. Francesco, the owner, was extremely responsive and quick to respond when we called with an issue. The issues, though, kept coming. The first full day we were there, the glass coffee pot broke. Hot coffee went everywhere, including into the oven vents. For 24 hours, the power would go out every 30min in the house. The oven shorted out for almost 3 days. In the bathroom, the toilet seat was held on by one screw. (The toilet seat is now fixed.) Both handles to the shower doors fell off. (They remained on the tank of the toilet for our entire stay.) On our 6th day, we ran out of propane – in the middle of cooking dinner. On our 7th day, the apartment above started repair work on their metal railing. The work continued for 2 more days. We were unable to open the glass doors to the terrace during the day due to the debris, smell and sound. We do not blame Francesco for this, but it did make for unpleasant times. The bedroom had a spider infestation. All 3 of our children woke up with new multiple spider bites on their faces for the first couple of days. The kitchen is extremely small -cooking proper meals can be done, though it's challenging. Every issue we faced (aside from the apartment above during repair work) could have easily been prevented or avoided. As mentioned, Francesco was extremely quick to respond and fix the situation, but we should never have had to call. The balcony and sea right outside is what made the vacation worthwhile. The breeze was absolutely amazing and refreshing. We ate almost every meal outside on the balcony. It was a short walk to the swimming area where there is crystal clear blue water – perfect for snorkeling. This apartment is not for 5 people. It would be better suited for 2-3 people for a long weekend given the size of the bathroom, size of kitchen and lack of washer. It is NOT a 2-bedroom. It has one bedroom to sleep 3 people. The living room has the second bed - a fold out sofa bed (not comfy). There is NO internet access. Smoking is not allowed for this rental, but the other apartments do smoke - which flows right into this rental.
“Want to go back”
Great place for a peaceful holiday. Francesco provided a very warm welcome. We are already missing the sunshine, good food and kind people we met there. The view of the sea in the morning, the little fishing boats which chug past at night, the quiet verandah. We certainly hope to visit again.
“Comfortable, quiet and relaxing”
Casa Pozzillo is in a beautiful location in a quiet village in Eastern Sicily, not far from Catania. It's beautifully furnished, with attention to detail, has a well-appointed kitchen and comfortable bedroom, and a fold-out sofa for another person. From the house you can walk out straight onto the sea, and go walking across the volcanic rocks, admire the peace and tranquility, and look out over Etna. Locally, there's a bar and a few shops where you can get everything you need. The people are very friendly, and you get a real sense of the Sicilian way of life! We loved the whole place, the apartment, the village, and the countryside. We also came at a time when there were few tourists - April - and would recommend that, although the weather is unpredictable. Francesco was extremely accommodating, and I would heartily recommend this to anybody wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle of life for a week.
“Cassa Pozzillo - A Fantastic Villa”
We rented this villa for just over a week and wished that we could have stayed longer! It is ideally situated; the sea is only a foot step away and it is at the end of a dead end street so there is no traffic passing by and it's really quiet. It has a large veranda/balcony which provides plenty of space for both children and adults to play, which is completely secure, so no worrying. The villa is in immaculate condition with its interior having been wonderfully decorated by the Grecco's, complete with air-conditioning. The Grecco's were exceptionally helpful and did everything he could to make our stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible. This villa is ideal for either two couples or a familly of four with 2 small children plus 2 friends, as one room has a king-sized sofa bed and the other room a double bed plus single bed, with a travel cot available for a baby/toddler. From this villa you can easily visit all the sites in the north of the island down to Syracusa in the South. We really can not find fault in any way and have recommended it to all our family and friends. Book with confidence. Fantastic
“Spectacular views, best kept a secret, not to spoil experience!”
Francesco, the owner, is welcoming and very accommodating to the needs of renters. We stayed in 1 of 4 apartments overlooking the majestic Ionic Sea. We had complete privacy and solitude. Amazing sunrise..., teal blue sea. No other renters in the complex at the time. The apartment is smart, clean and original art work of wife Lucia is and fresh native flowers added pleasure to our experience. Pozzillo, the fisherman port and village, is charming, walkable. There are small shops to buy food, fresh vegetables and fish; a bar, church and post-office. Enough to explore, enjoy by foot...orange groves, lovely streets lined with modest Sicilian houses, but nothing can match the incredible location of this apartment. We intend to book with Francesco and Lucia again!! Un bel posto! Vi consigliamo! Grazie!
