Conveniently located 1000 feet above the village of Uvita, where the mountains go right down to the coast, this private 2000 square foot villa is nestled in a secluded jungle setting. There are ocean views across the entire west side of the villa: kitchen, dining area, living room and veranda. One of the two bedrooms is set behind the veranda and can open up on it, allowing for an ocean view from bed. You don't have to bring much clothing because there is a designated laundry room with washer and dryer and we provide the detergent. Due to the rapid rise in elevation, a 4x4 SUV is needed. If you want to stay connected in the wilds, bring your laptop. The villa has WiFi. Relax by your own private 40 foot ocean view swimming pool. Or for that rainy afternoon watch one of 100 DVD's on the flat-screen TV or one of the CD's from our collection.

Our property manager, Rolando Fallas, will meet you on your arrival, orient you to the area, and escort you up to the house. He will be available to you throughout your stay for questions and issues that may arise.

Hike right from the front door 10 minutes down to a beautiful waterfall swimming pool. Or make the 10 minute down to the village. Uvita is a multi-cultural community which serves as the shopping hub for the area. There are supermarkets, a tourist information center, internet cafes, boutiques and shops. There is a farmers' market every Saturday morning where local artisans sell their wares. Uvita connects to Bahia, the entrance to Marino Ballena National Park which has the Whale's Tail, a nearly 700 meter long and 250 meter wide sandbank, the third largest in the world. The Whale's Tail divides the endless coastline of beaches into two distinct kinds. On one side, enjoy vigorous surf for both swimming and surfing. And on the other side, enjoy the calm water ideal for children and snorkeling.

Tour operators here (We recommend Uvita Information Center) will bring you snorkeling right off the coast at Ballena Isla or to the famous Cano Island for scuba or snorkeling. They also offer tours to Corcovado national Park just across the bay for a day of hiking in one of the few primal forests left in the world. Or choose a day of deep sea fishing or tour Uvita's 1000 acre wildlife preserve. Take a zip line tour and an ATV tour. Go 5 miles down the Costanero to kayak on the Terraba River in the largest mangrove in Costa Rica. We also have several wonderful waterfalls which you can walk to or rent a a horse and ride there.

With ocean breezes all day and cool mountain air at night, there is no need for air conditioning (although one bedroom has an in-wall unit). The two large bedrooms have queen size beds (one bedroom has an additional single bed), private baths, and are separated by a spacious living room. All closets are dehumidified. Fully equipped kitchen and vaulted ceilings with palm frond ceiling fans give this home both comfort and beauty. Incredible wildlife and spectacular sunsets make Casa Toucan unforgettable. Wake up to the calls of howler monkeys and have sunset cocktails with resident toucans by your private 40 foot swimming pool.
