Description
Casa Kalana is a unique, quiet, private home nestled in the last section of tropical dry forest just 250 yards to the Pacific Ocean. You can pour yourself a cup of coffee and put your feet in the ocean before it gets cold. We have an abundance of wildlife to observe thanks to our heavily wooded property. We have a fully appointed kitchen, granite counter and bar, dining and living area which opens onto the outdoor terrace, complete with hammocks, where our guests tend to spend the majority of their time. There are two large bedrooms, each with queen sized beds with one shared bathroom. Filled with art and decorated in a indigenous artifacts, the energy is designed to disconnect you from your stressful life, and reconnect you to your 'self' and nature.

Response from the owner Dear Host Family, The safety and security of our guests is our main focus here at Casa Kalana. As the owner, I am deeply sorry that you have experienced this loss and invasion of privacy while guests here at my home. All of our guests, including you, are informed upon check-in of the importance of following personal safety to prevent any material loss or break-ins. They are also made aware that the area is subject to break-ins and it is necessary to be vigilant. We have developed a simple and effective way to minimize the chances of this occurring as follows: • Please ensure all doors and windows are locked prior to leaving the house. • Please notify me if you are going to be gone from the house for more than 1 hour. I stay around the house constantly if you are going to be away. • Please utilize the safety security box for storage of any and all valuables. There were two lapses of our security protocol that led to the burglary: 1) The door lock was broken, requiring a new key. Rather than wait for the new key, the house was left unlocked, as well as unattended. 2) Valuables that should have been stored in the safety security box were left out. These two simple acts literally left an “open door” for the bad guys. We have had over 100 groups stay at Casa Kalana with excellent experiences, for which we are grateful. For our future guests, please remember to leave your valuables at home, don’t take anything to the beach that you would be sad to lose. We respectfully counsel all our guests to follow our security protocols and keep me informed of your comings and goings. Join the group of people who have had positive experiences in Playa Negra and Casa Kalana. Aloha!
