“most beautiful ever”

Reviewed 17 Jun 2014

We’ve stayed in 6 different vacation rentals around the country of Costa Rica, and Casa Blanca is certainly the most beautiful of them all – and not the most expensive. We rented the 2-bedroom Villa II for the 3 of us. It’s just as gorgeous as the pictures show (whereas a couple of other vacation rentals had great pictures but were disappointing when we arrived). The view of Lake Arenal is so peaceful, it invites you to just sit on the porch and not go anywhere. We loved having our breakfast on the porch in the mornings and watching the birds that visited: toucans, toucanets, parrots, guans, tanagers, motmots, flocks of parakeets, hummingbirds. Casa Blanca is elegantly furnished and decorated, and the floor plan is designed for great views from the many windows and sliding doors. Even the west bathroom has a big picture window with a view of the lake (so you can gaze at the scenery while taking a shower or sitting on the commode! Don’t worry, there are no nearby neighbors to look in.) The owners and property manager understand the concept of a vacation rental – they know what travelers need and they provide all the little details that make it easy to feel right at home the moment you arrive. The kitchen is well stocked with everything a gourmet cook might use to prepare a fabulous feast, not to mention beautiful dishes. While most of the vacation rentals we stayed in lacked closets and hangers, were skimpy with towels, and often lacked little necessities like coffee filters, trash bags, or soap, Casa Blanca has every detail covered. The manager, Ty, was there to greet us and was very helpful. If you can drag yourself away from the views, there is a lot to do and see in the area. About 30-40 minutes away is Arenal Volcano and the hiking trails around it (check out the hanging bridges trails - we saw a resplendent quetzal there), and 15-20 minutes farther is the town of Fortuna and nearby hot springs. We went on a thrilling white-water raft trip with a company called Wave Expeditions headquartered in Fortuna, and Ty helped us make that reservation. On rainy afternoons we visited a butterfly farm and a herpetarium. The town of Nuevo Arenal, with numerous restaurants and stores, is very close to the Casa Blanca villa. The restaurant we enjoyed most of all was Tenaja’s, right on the shore of the lake, with fabulous food. If we return to Costa Rica and the Arenal Area, we will go back to Casa Blanca. I highly recommend it.

“Costa Rica Perfection”

Reviewed 31 Mar 2014

Our trip to Costa Rica was made perfect by staying at the private home "Casa Blanca". A stylishly decorated home with an amazing view of Lake arenal out two huge sliding doors along the back wall of the villa. The open kitchen was well equipped with plenty of counter space, cabinets and appliances plus Panini maker, juicer, microwave, and even a convection oven! The extra large bathrooms had wonderful open stone showers that were also extra large. It has beautiful landscaping on a very private lot with a first class restaurant, "The Gingerbread", at the bottom of the driveway. Everything we needed or might want was available- from a ping pong table, outdoor furniture on the patio facing the lake and one of the most used features: a relaxing hammock to enjoy the amazing weather! All in all- staying at "Casa Blanca" was absolutely the best way to enjoy the beauty of Costa Rica- we can't imagine staying anywhere else!

“Quel séjour de rêve!”

Reviewed 10 Feb 2014

Although we had looked at the enticing photos on the website and exchanged a couple of friendly mails with the owner, we did not imagine that our stay at the main house of la Casita would come so much above our expectations. On the first day of our stay, we simply couldn't tear ourselves off from the patio, so delighted were we with the stunning view over Lake arenal, the lovely garden, the hammock and the ping pong table. We were amazed by the space, comfort and luxury we found in the house : appliances and amenities of all kind, ranging from a washer and drier to a pair of powerful binoculars conveniently left for guests to watch the birds and the scenery around. If we did not cook very elaborate meals, we certainly could have done so with all the equipment and cookery books to be found in the kitchen area! And we felt like king and queen indeed in the large slightly raised bed facing the lake, watching the lights on the opposing bank go out at dawn and day lighten the colour of the sky and water. Luxury we found everywhere, but all in good taste with nothing ostentatious. And it was so easy to get used to everything that coming back to the house after a drive to la Fortuna and a day's walk was something to look forward to like going home. We felt a bit as if we were privileged guests in a house whose owner we hadn't met, but who seemed to trust us completely and whose aim was to make our stay a most enjoyable and memorable one.

“Everything we hoped it would be!”

We loved our time at Casa Blanca. It was everything we were hopeing it would be. Perfect temps, no bugs. We slept with the windows and patio doors open every night so we could here the rain and enjoy the cool snuggeling weather. Beautiful, private, classy and comfortable. Marc took great care of us and everyone in the community welcomed us as friends. We can't wait to go back many more times.

“Amazing Property and atmosphere. A must see!”

While traveling in Costa Rica my last stop was the arenal area. I had not seen or even heard about Casa Blanca until I was lucky enough run across the owners while having dinner with a friend at the Gingerbread Restaurant (one of the best places to eat by the way!- and just minutes from this property)My friend and I were intially heading out of town the next day but because of the friendliness of the people we met (including Mark and Michele- the owners of Casa Blanca) we decided to extend our stay. Mark had mentioned that he had a place he rented not far up the hill and he invited my friend and I to check it out. Let's just say his comments did not due his property justice. It was absolutely beautiful! As it was only two of us the Casita was plenty big. It also had many of the convienences that we would not have anticipated such as a kitchen, washer & dryer, etc. It is beautifully decorated and definately gives the feel of luxury. This by the way matches the outside surroundings which are lush and well maintained by the owners and wonderful property managers Beth & Jeff. It is reasonably priced for all that is offered. This property offers the best in comfort & beauty, and also is a great location for those that want to have a little fun. It's close enough to activities but situated above the hill when you want to just enjoy nature and the enviornment. If you want to have fun where you are at, you can cook at home and play with the outdoor ping pong table for amusement. The owners are so easy to talk with and extremely accommodating. I can't say enough how friendly they were to myself and my friend. They even showed us around the main house, which is stunning, and would be great if you were traveling with family or a larger group. Mark & Michele really made us feel welcome and were kind enough to include us in some of the local fun. I highly recommend Casa Blanca to travelers & I can't wait for my next trip so I can have more time to really enjoy the place.

“Perfect location, all the amenities!”

Reviewed 21 Nov 2013

Me and my family just spent 6 days there, and the property was fantastic - above our already high expectations. Outside of the great interior, it has two wonderful things going for it, location and amenities. First, location. So happy we stayed here instead of the beach, or the la Fortuna or Monteverde areas. From Nuevo arenal, all of those places are accessible, as it's centrally located, that meant we could pick which area to explore for the day and take off. But unlike those places, we were not locked into one thing (we can't do the beach every day for 6 days - we get bored) and had a perfectly serene, and safe place to come home to every evening. Also, breakfast and dinner every night on the porch, watching the sun rise or set across the lake while we ate and bird watched is not a bad deal at all. Next up amenities, the property has it all. Outside of being new, clean, stuffed with all the appliances, linens and bedding you'd expect, it also had ping pong table, xbox and wii for the kids, superfast internet, the works. The open floorplan was great for us, no matter where you are standing in the house you have an amazing view. At the end of the day, when us, and our kids were whipped from a day of exploring, it was like coming home to relax at your own house. Which is a pretty great feeling when you've spent the day hiking, or swimming in volcanic pools. Everything we could've needed was there. Also, Beth and Jeff, who manage the house, we're on top of any requests we had, full of great info as well. Overall, it's an a-plus property (beautiful, clean, well-managed) with all the amenities, located smack dab in the middle of all the cool places and things you want to do in Costa Rica. I can't imagine a more ideal location for a family vacation (we have 2 small boys and they loved the area, including hiking down by the lake.)

“A life Time Of Memories”

Reviewed 19 Jul 2013

Beautiful home and guest house in the hills of Lake arenal. Beautiful views of the lake. The property was everything we hoped for and more. Just far enough of the beaten path to enjoy some down time. But close enough to La Fortuna do enjoy white water rafting, zip lining, hot springs ,etc. We enjoyed drinking our morning coffee sitting on the patio, looking out at the lake, watching the colorful birds, parrots, toucans and hummingbirds. The sunsets were equally as beautiful. Dinner at the Gingerbread, was fabulous . Beth and Jeff very helpful and gracious.

“Truly the Pura Vida of Costa Rica”

Reviewed 28 Apr 2013

We had the opportunity to stay in La Casita this past week for our honeymoon and we could not have been happier! The location is amazing, sitting on a million dollar view of Lake arenal just up the hill from the best food in Costa Rica, Gingerbread Restaurant. It's close to all activities: canyoning, hiking, white water rafting, horseback riding, kayaking, ziplines, hot springs, and the jungle, all while remaining quietly secluded from tourist trap resorts. This place is the best part of Costa Rica, and maintains 5 star luxury. The home is clean, and well decorated, easily accessible-up a gravel driveway. Marc, the owner was quick to respond to my inquiries and the onsite managers were the most friendly people I've ever met! Another perk about staying here over a resort is that the walls are well built, a lot of the bungalow places have open seams in the walls that allow for bugs and critters, which can be an uncomfortable thing when most of them are poisonous in Costa Rica!! Thanks again, we will be back soon! Brian and alicia

“Unbelievable get away!”

My first trip to Costa Rica was one I will never forget. Staying at La Casita @ Lake arenal was just what I needed. The home was beautiful, comfortable and secure. The locals are awesome. To wake up each morning over looking the lake was an experience I will never forget. I loved going to Gingerbread, the restaurant right down the hill, best food in town. I went with four great friends, but I will be returning with my family, plenty to do whether you are with friends or have your children with you. I would recommend staying here, very affordable, it is like you are at a 5 star hotel...

I can't remember ever having a lovlier vacation spot to just relax and be thankful for all of the beauty Costa Rica possesess!!
