“ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL VIEWS WE HAVE EXPERIENCED”
First time in Costa Rica and loved it. Our family of 6 had an amazing time at your property. What a perfect place for relaxation after a day of adventure. Our kids, ages 7 and 10 were in heaven. The drive to the villa is breathtakingly beautiful and when the gates close behind you after a busy day of exploring you feel as though the world vanishes. We enjoyed the wildlife and plants on the property and my favorite thing was sitting watching the birds while I had my morning coffee. Tom and Maria treated us like friends. We had private access to the pool by the guest house, a kitchen, lots of room for the kids to play and access to a little piece of perfectly manicured paradise with a breathtaking view.
“An Excellent Place To Stay”
I don't normally give the houses I've rented the "highest" rating, nor do I normally write reviews in the first place, buy I feel compelled to do so for Arenal Springs Villas. For the simple reason that, in the past when I've rented houses on-line, pictures posted have usually overstated how nice the homes and surrounding area actually was. Not they were bad, just that the their pictures left me with high expectations. But Arenal Springs was/is different. In my opinion, the pictures just can't quite capture how nice the houses/villas, the grounds, and the surrounding area, actually are. And that's why we keep going back.
Breathtaking views of the Lake. Birds and wildlife abound. Very safe, clean, manicured grounds. Modern well kept facilities. Excellent cleaning staff. Maria and Tom truly enjoy having people stay with them and they made our first "no kids" vacation absolutely perfect. Upon our arrival we were greeted by Tom who showed us to our Villa and made sure everything was set up for us. We were provided with a local map and listing of restaurants and sites. Maria helped us organize tours. Our stay with Tom and Maria made a lasting impression on us. If you plan on travelling to Costa Rica and the Arenal region, this is a must stay at location. are unbelievabley helpful with making your stay with them enjoyable
“Paradise at arenal Springs”
From the first contact with Tom and Maria we knew we would be well looked after. Tom's response to our online inquiry was within 24 hours followed up by a phone call to our home in Canada. Maria was also instrumental in helping us get tours booked and arranging ground transportation to pick us up at the west coast and take us to arenal Springs. We continued to use Emily and Balo's shuttle service through the course of our week at arenal Springs. We arrived at arenal Springs later in the day to find that the grounds and the house were even more beautiful that the pictures depicted. The grounds were manicured and clean. There were many kinds of birds and the howler monkeys in the trees made for good entertainment. The pool was kept spotless and included a couple of lounge chairs and a table with benches so we spent a couple of afternoons lounging by the pool. Our group included two couples and we stayed at the Casa Primera house. The house had a good supply of dishes and cooking utensils which make meal prep easy. We were surprised to learn that we could drink the tap water so we didn't need to purchase bottled water. We got groceries in New arenal which was about a 15 minute drive. The bedrooms were spacious with comfortable beds and a large bathroom ensuite. The house remained cool in the evenings in spite of the hot weather during the day. The maids came to change out the towels and clean the house every second day. On the front deck of the house was a table and chairs so we ate our breakfast outside most every day. Tom was very generous with his time. He came and chatted with us on a couple of occasions answering all our questions. He took us to look at some real estate and he even put us in contact with Daryl who took us out on a 1/2 day boat cruise on Lake arenal. We will definitely return to arenal Springs on our next trip to Costa Rica.
“breathtaking nature and a beautiful and comfortable home”
Lucky enough to have 5 nights here after traveling throughout Costa Rica in the dry season. But the arenal area was clean and beautiful, not dusty like down below. And this property is perfectly situated with a view of the beautiful clean lake, all kinds of birds galore, and the sound of the monkeys in the trees at night. Everything we could possibly have thought of was included in our beautiful home, and we enjoyed cooking dinner and enjoying a Costa Rican Imperial on the patio at night, enjoying the view and the cool breeze. Beautifully decorated, perfectly maintained, and the owners, Tom and Maria, were charming and helpful. and there's a little neighborhood bar not too far donw the road for mingling. Great!
I am writing about arenal Springs Villas by the Lake. Tom & Maria, who run the place, were so friendly & helpful we feel we have new friends. wwee arrived late but Maria brought us food so that the next morning we could have a civilized start. They gave us maps, advice on restaurants, & Tom drove us around to show us homes (the purpose of our trip). They live on site & always there for anything needed. The villas were exactly as advertised. This is a gated, secure estate on a terraced mountain side, fully staffed with grounds staff & maids. We stayed at Casa Grande, which is complete with luxurious furniture & a romantic hot tub with a great view. There is an outdoor Ranchero with BBQ & wood burning fireplace. It is big enough for 3 or 4 couples. The kitchen is fantastic, but if you wany Tom has contacts with a chef who can cook for you. The setting was very serene with Toucans and monkeys in the trees & the exquisite sound of silence at night. All the other villas were well equipped & had great views. Families have rented the entire estate for weddings & other occasions & it is a perfect venue. The time we spent at arenal Springs Villas by The Lake was memorable. Our goal was to relax, but mostly to prospect for a retirement home. The site is located with not too distant drives to surrounding areas including San Jose, Liberia & the Pacific Coast beaches. The area is full of surprises with many fine homes & gated estates with excellent homes at reasonable prices. There is even a Yatch Club nearby. You might want to rent a car, but there is transportation & many rewards with visits to local small towns, La Fortuna, the arenal Volcano, Monteverde National Park, etc. We will be returning soon to finalize our home search & I can think of no finer place to stay. This is definitely 5 Star!
“A little slice of heaven”
My wife and I and two other couples stayed in the large home for 4 nights in January. The home was very luxurious and we had a wonderful time chatting with Tom and his wife and Daryl who lives just down the road. Daryl was kind enough to take the six of us out for a few hours on the lake where we did a little fishing, swimming, and just enjoying the peace and tranquility of the area. We already decided we will retire in this area and this just confirms it. You cannot go wrong staying here. We ended our stay with a barbecue and feast with our new found friends, cooked up some fresh home made dumplings and seafood. The two other couple came all the way from China to travel with us. We all loved our stay and will certainly visit again.
My husband and I organized a trip for 19 of our friends to join us at arenal Springs Villas by the Lake over New Year's this past January. We rented out the whole estate, and could not have asked for a better experience. While planning the trip, Tom was available to answer any questions by phone or email. Compared to other places we looked at online, the price was quite reasonable, and even though he had other offers, he was patient with us while we figured out how to send our deposit to Costa Rica. Maria was great about helping us organize day trips. (The white water rafting trip we went on was a long drive, but truly excellent rafting.) When we arrived, the place was perfect. The villas were in immaculate condition and the views were stunning. Tom and Maria were always available if we had questions, but they were not intrusive in any way. We even had a little incident where we broke their sprinkler. They were very calm about it, dealt with it right away, and didn't charge us because they had the parts they needed on hand. The only caution I would tell someone thinking of renting here is that you need to plan ahead for your transportation. The Villas are about an hour drive from La Fortuna, so you either need to rent cars or arrange with Maria to get a van service ahead of time. If you have enough people, the van service is very reasonable. When you rent the van you get it and the drivers all day and they will take you wherever you want. We did that one day and the diver and assistant were very kind and ended up showing us where we could get into natural hot springs for free! We were very happy with this option but you need to book in advance. I would definitely recommend this place to someone looking to spend some quality time with a group of friends or family. I'm sure anyone in my group of 21 would be happy to come back again as well!
“The Gem of Costa Rica”
My wife and I have been spending twenty-three days in the beautiful country of Costa Rica every year since 2007. We most likely know more about the country than most of the people that have lived there all of their lives. During those years we spent two of the weeks, on separate occasions, in the arenal area. We decided to spend another week in areal and by the greatest of flukes, we happened upon the internet pages for the arenal Spring Villas rental cottages. If you are a one time visitor or are revisiting Costa Rica, the best place to savor what Costa Rica has to offer is at the rental cottages of Tom and Maria Ploskina. Besides visiting the most active volcano in the country, there are three zip lines, hot springs, hanging bridges, waterfalls, and excursions to nearby Monte Verde. Eating opportunities, wildlife viewing, and orchids are found everywhere. We stayed in the Enchanted Cottage, which has a babbling brook just outside the window to fall asleep by and a pool just out the back door. The cottage was more than we could have asked for. This gated paradise is the best kept secret in the country. The lands are immaculately groomed and the house keeping staff are some of the most friendly individuals that I have ever met in my life. The pictures on the website will blow you away but be prepared to be even more overwhelmed upon your arrival.
“Had a great time”
My fiance and I stayed in the Enchanted Cottage during our Costa Rica vacation. We had a great time and Tom & Maria couldn't have been more helpful. The location is about 50-60 minutes outside of La Fortuna depending on who you're driving behind--the roads are only 1 lane, very curvy, and people like to take their sweet time. The Enchanted Cottage is located on the grounds of the arenal Springs Villas. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and we finally saw toucans on our last day there after looking every morning. The cottage was very clean and private and has a basic kitchen so you can prepare your own meals--we got very tired of eating out all of the time by our 8th day in CR. If you do choose to go out to eat, we really suggest Moya's. Great food! Tom can recommend all the places to try and what to avoid. If you want to be in La Fortuna, this may not be the place for you. However, if you want to get away from all the touristy stuff and off the beaten path a bit, this is a wonderful place. Lake arenal is gorgeous and La Fortuna is not far when you feel like being a tourist.
