“The House Is Well Equiped” For the most part, the house was quite comfortable. It was clean and supplied with the basic living items, i.e., toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap. My only complaint is that the house says it sleeps 8 which includes the sofa. The sofa mattress was not comfortable and needs to be replaced. If the sofa mattress is not replaced, then the house should not advertise that it can sleep 8. I would request to rent the house again for my family if the sofa mattress is replaced. As for our stay, we had a great time! I'm going to say "yes" to would I recommend this vacation rental, but I would definitely check on the sofa mattress before renting it for 8.

“Island feel, Mainland conveniences” Stayed for a MTB event with 6 buddies. Everyone was comfortable. The air mattress leaks but the couch turned out to be very comfortable. Packing 8 people in would be very tight. 6 was the perfect amount. Avalon is not a big city but the house is only a couple blocks from grocery, nightlife, and great restaurants. I highly recommend this house and will seek it out again. Turned out a friend stayed here the year prior without me knowing when I booked and they liked it too. Has an outdoor shower great for washing scuba and beach equipment.

“Gorgeous!” Three families stayed at 316 1/2 upper level Catalina avenue with four teenagers. The home is old but very nicely appointed with everything one could need. There is a washer dryer and a clothes line and 3 blow dryers, a beach cooler, and two red wagons for carting groceries or beach gear, and two small, beach chairs to use. There is a small BBQ on the main floor that both units can use in the street for fire safety. All the appliances are new. The kitchen is equipped with nice dishes, glasses, bowls, and cooking pots and pans. They could use a few more cutting knives when cooking or sharpen the ones there. There is lots of extra bedding although we could have used more pillows in each room. The flat screen TV has lots of great channels. The home is located in the middle of town near everything. It is very bright and sunny. All the windows open up - no screens if you have small children. Cool evenings mean no air conditioning is needed. They did have two nice fans that we used during the day to keep cool. The table fits 10 and we ate big brunches there everyday after our morning walk and before heading to the beach. We would love to rent here again. Compared to other prices for weekly rentals on Catalina this one was the best for the money. The internet did not work and the rental agency repair man is so nice and fixed it quickly. The washing machine door did not shut properly and the repair came back and fixed that quickly. He deserved an extra tip for his prompt response and nice attitude. And he fixed both items the first time he came.

“A wonderful weekend!” Our stay in Hamilton Cove Villa 1-67 was WONDERFUL! The check-in process was a piece of cake and the condo was beautiful. The condo is spacious and the kitchen was stocked with all the necessary cooking essentials - making it easy for us to stay in and cook breakfast and dinner. The nearby pool is wonderful and the view is amazing. I thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the balcony with a cup of coffee watching the sunrise each morning. Since we had 5 people in our group, we were really excited that this condo came with a 6-person golf cart.... unfortunately we never used it but it was nice to have it as an option. Overall, we were SO happy that we stayed in Hamilton Cove - although it was a little outside of Avalon (Approx. $15 cab ride) it was relaxing and beautiful - it was everything we could have asked for.

“Even the parking space had amazing views!” Hamilton Cove Villa 1-68 can expect us to return to take in the views. The whole front wall is 3 sets of french doors, and a huge view window in the dining area. If you don't want to stare out at the spectacular ocean, then you can glance down to the little rocky cove below you. The condo is awesome: clean, fun, and nicely laid out for sleeping space. As we used it for an inexpensive quick get away we were happy w/the ability to sleep four in a one bedroom unit, and our daughters still each had their own space. There is the twin daybed (which is a trundle if you need it) tucked away in an alcove. And there's also a futon/sofa. The kitchen had everything needed, and more. Downsides: You must carry your suitcases down & back up several flights of stairs, somebody "borrowed ALL the hangers) and left cigarette butts in a potted patio plant. Serious drawback: the Internet and cell phone service was nearly non existent for us At&T users. My husband occasionally got a weak signal, but not I. Our college age daughters were horrified and ended up spending much more time in the charming town of Avalon so as to be connected to the world. I was ok with it, we went there to relax and snorkel, after all. But even the girls were impressed with the condo and the views. It was wonderful to have that cart, couldn't really have stayed there without it. But it also made the villas superior to the hotels. The villas are more attractive, quiet, and as they're gated, more secure than in town. The ride to and from was always enlivened by seeing the shyer Avalon residents, a herd of deer. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed snorkeling in that lovely private cove. Yes, waters are a little chilly. The trick is to go in waist deep, get out for a few minutes. When you get back in, the part of you that got wet is now just fine with the temp. Works every time. And the snorkeling is lovely. Other than Garibaldi, California's state fish the fish are not as brightly colored as Hawaii's, but the flora and fauna are much more so, and create a magnificent experience. The sheer numbers of fish delighted us. This little cove is a nursery to schools and schools of various fish. Even spotted eagle rays, bat rays, sting rays, a shy leopard shark (harmless w/just sandpapery nubs of teeth to eat small clams). Watched a senorita fish and a small calico bass harass an octopus. Snorkeling brought us to Catalina's Hamilton Cove Villas, and will bring us back.

“Guest” Worked well for me and my friends. Wished there were more beds. Comfortable. The location can't be beat. It was perfect, in easy walking distance from the Casino, Wrigley Botanical Gardens and Memorial, restaurants.

“Relaxing Getaway” There is a very very steep incline walk up to the property and then a lot of stairs before entering. That is something to keep in mind if you have trouble walking.

“Updated yet quaint” Adorable cottage for our four day stay in Avalon. Beds were comfortable, kitchen modern, and the outdoor patio on the side of the property was just what we needed for the little ones to run around. The kitchen was well stocked with staples such as coffee. We didn't really want to go home!

“Enjoyed our stay..........” We enjoyed our stay. The three bedrooms are all connected which was different but certainly workable. The kitchen was well stocked and the unit was very clean except for the living room carpet - very dirty. The staff at the rental office were efficient and very friendly.

“It is a beautiful well updated avalon home.” Vacationing in Avalon is a four generation family tradition for my family. My family has grown, so we grandparents rent our own house. 329 Catalina is a beautifully updated and maintained Avalon home on a relatively quiet street.. Morning coffee on the front porch is most memorable. The appliances are newer and better than I have expected in Avalon. I especially loved the pictorial family history of the owners family in the house. Being a 66 year visitor to Catalina makes me appreciate that. The bedroom is a little cramped for space, and my tired old back would appreciate a little softer futon, but that is no complaint. I have reserved a stay for next year and hope to stay there many more years. My thanks to the family for sharing their home and history with us.

“Will return!” The staff was very polite and helpful. The home was warm and inviting. The older decor didn't take away from our great experience. The condo experience is much more rewarding than a hotel one. Especially if you are traveling with others. You can cook your own meals and save some $$$. The Common area to commune when the days activities have concluded was priceless.

“Worth every penny” We had plenty of room with a family and friends that totaled 8 people.. Showers where still warm on the 8th shower of the day, clean place and they allowed us to check out later since no one rented out that day! Great Value and friendly neighbors.. They did not have a wine opener, but no problem we just asked the neighbors.. yay.

“Wife 70th B'day with children and grand children” House was very nice. Had everything we needed including an barbecue and beach toys for the grandchildren. The only drawback is that it is pretty dark inside. We had to turn on the lights even on a sunny day.

“Comfy and Great Location” Courteous and friendly service from the staff throughout, from the initial emails to check-in and check-out. They even let us keep the rental for a half-day at a nominal fee since we were taking the late boat out! There were six of us and this home was the perfect size for that group. The main living and dining areas are spacious enough for everyone to be comfortable. The bedrooms are all adequate in size and the 1.75 baths worked out fine. Kitchen was well-stocked with all the utensils and basics needed to make a meal (and some condiments in the fridge too!). Location was great, very close to the boardwalk but also on one of the few no-carts/vehicles streets in town, so it was very quiet. Definitely would recommend this unit to any largish sized groups planning on spending a few days on the island.

“Great Place to Stay” This unit was a great place to stay for us. It has a terrific view and all the amenities you would expect. My only gripe was the quality of the mattress on the fold-out sofa, but the kids didn't seem to mind. Having a golf cart was very nice to explore places that may be too far on foot. Being a little outside avalon was also very nice -- it can get pretty noisy on the weekends. Hamilton Cove has a pretty strict no-noise policy, and many of the people there have small children that go to bed early. I really enjoyed the peace. Important to note that this is not a good place for anyone who can't hike up several flights of stairs. I would gladly stay here again.

“Beautiful View, Beautiful Home, Beautiful Place to stay!” This was not our first time to Hamilton Cove, we have stayed several times before but, not this unit. This was a wonderful and beautiful location. The home was pristine and it overlooked everything. So, happy to have stayed here and would stay here again.

“Great House That Gave Us Wonderful Memories.” This house was perfect for our stay. We arrived early and were able to check-in early without any problem. Someone offered to show us the location of the house in the case we might get lost. Fortunately, it wasn't necessary and was very easy to find. The door was a little tricky to open after locking but we were able to get fast assistance with getting back in. Our group had an amazing time in Catalina. The house was spacious, clean upon arrival, and gave a very homely feel. We all felt like it was our home away from home despite it being our first time there. We always talk about going back. We're constantly reflecting on how nice the house was and what a great time it was staying there.

“borderline magic” This unit is more or less dead center of the complex, and is directly above the pool and clubhouse, with a view right down onto the beach. It's at the mid point so you pretty well have to go up the maximum amount of steps (not something that concerns me). As with most, if not all, units, this one comes with a golf cart and that's a must because walking from town to Hamilton Cove, while it is totally doable, would be a good half hour hike up a serious hill and if you're packing groceries, forget it, you'd need a cab which costs $15 all in from town. The unit was very nice (truly), with very large (50 inch) brand new flat screen LED smart TVs in both living room and master bed. It's nice to flip on cable and put it on a sat music station. It does get regular cable TV programs but the best entertainment is outside on the large balcony (easily could have 10 people on the balcony, it's 25 ft long and 6 ft wide). Furniture was chosen with good taste and is very comfortable (rly nice and comfortable fold out couch but we didn't use it for a bed). The artwork and decor makes u feel like you're in a well designed home The master bed mattress seemed like an old spring mattess in desperate need of replacement and i have a bad back, and so forth so i was fairly concerned but for whatever reason, it didn't bother me and i had no trouble sleeping. There's no AC and it was mid summer here at the island and in the 80s through the early evening but we had no need of AC (and I definitely an AC kinda guy). The ocean breeze with the doors open at night was heaven and because it is located directly above the beach (albeit, 300 ft away), you can hear the gentle waves come in all night. To be honest I don't think you can really do better than Hamilton Cove Villa, if you're looking at a higher end stay. In terms of price, it's right in there with the high end places and if you've got kids (I did not have kids this stay) it's a no brainer for a larger space, kitchen etc. This particular villa, the second i have stayed at, has got to be one of the best deals in the whole complex. I am sure it's lower price reflects how difficult it is to get to it. You need to ascend about 75 ft of steps. I knew this going in, or, surmised it, and it's no issue for me but if you're older or have bad knees or something, be aware of this because there is no way around it. There are no elevators here. The golf cart seemed to have an issue with exhaust, even with all the flaps open.

“Love Catalina! Love this place!” This was our second year renting this town home. It's clean and decorated nicely. Beds are comfortable and the views from the top floor are terrific too! “Great stay in beautiful Catalina” Me and my husband and 2 young kids rented 359 Sumner B while our friends who also have 2 small kids rented unit C. This was the perfect setting for a family friendly weekend getaway. Plenty of space with both units and each unit seemed impeccable, new and well-kept. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone in the future and we will be staying here again when we come back for sure!

“Glad I chose this one.” We really enjoyed our stay here. I have to admit I was a little hesitant when we all decided on this one, as the first 3 we chose were unavailable. It's a very cute, clean place in a great location. Although the bedrooms are small and I agree with another review that the back room needs a new mattress, it's very doable. We used the kitchen to make breakfast and it had everything we needed, We walked to everywhere in town. I've stayed on the island several times and I will keep this on the list as one of my faves.

“Accommodating” Very comfortable. There were 7 in our party and found the place comfortable and meeting all our needs. The only thing negative I can say about the unit is it's located on a busy corner with lots of noisey gas powered golf carts.

“Fun on Catalina Island” Our family enjoyed this Hamilton Cove condo. The pool and jacuzzi were great, and having the golf cart was a nice way to get into Avalon. The condo was clean and well maintained with a good supply of towels. The location is quiet with a great view of the Pacific. It might be good to have a checklist of kitchen supplies to be sure they are adequate. Our kitchen had only a couple of teaspoons.
