Family Home with view near Squaw Valley

Olympic Valley house

4 bedrooms / 4 bathrooms / sleeps 12

“Amazing Home for Family Vacation” Our family spent 3 days and nights here last June and absolutely loved it. We just booked for the same weekend in June and can't wait for the trip. Here is a breakdown of why we find this Tahoe home to be such a perfect fit for us (and many others): 1. Location: Easy to get to as it sits between Truckee and Tahoe City and falls on a main road, but the long driveway means the home is secluded. The house is nestled back in the trees allowing beautiful views and has all sorts of little tracks and outside areas to explore. We loved to wander across the street to the Truckee River and to walk around the grounds. But then it is essentially 10-15 minutes to all places you might need or want. 2. Family fit: The location certainly set the stage for our wonderful trip, but the house itself really suited us. It is very child friendly - our kids (aged 1 and 3) loved to pile cushions up in the basement and run around, play ping pong, sit at the poker table, explore the patios or run down the hall upstairs. 3. Group fit: We went up with another family (same age kids) and the house really could not have been better for this crew of 8. We slept on one side of the home while the other family took 3 bedrooms at the other end. The closets are so big and have windows that we used both of them for the older kids (who liked the idea of building a "nest"). Early wakers could go down to the lowest level and run around without disturbing others. We could hang out as a big group very easily but also separate into family units if desired.

“Great cabin- awesome views” Nicely remodelled, well equipped and spacious cabin with terrific views of the mountains. Located in a quiet neighborhood a view minutes drive from Squaw village we could not have asked for more. We staid there in august for some great hiking and had a hard time leaving. If we go back in winter we will definitely book this cabin again.

Agatam Retreat

Tahoe Vista house

3 bedrooms / 3 bathrooms / sleeps 8

“Great Vacation House” Agatam Retreat is a lovely cabin, well located on a quiet loop street in Tahoe Vista. We could walk to two near by beaches and several restaurants. Kings Beach is a short 5 minute drive in to the North and Tahoe City about 8 miles to the South. The house itself is open concept upstairs, well furnished with a beautiful kitchen, livingroom and dining area, and a great deck across the front of the house. We sat out there several evenings watching the sky turn pink and grilling our dinner. Two bedrooms and two baths are upstairs. Downstairs is a cozy den and another bedroom and bath. We didn't use the downstairs, but it would have been perfect for an extended family with children. The kitchen is very well equipped. I think you could cook Thanksgiving there and do just fine. We enjoyed our stay immensely and will request this house again for a vacation.

Four Summits

Carnelian Bay house

4 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 10

“Annual 4th of July getaway” My family has been spending 4th of July in the Sierras for decades (either Donner Lake or Tahoe) and over the past several years we have been renting in Tahoe. Four Summits is right up there with some of our favorite cabins, and I would definitely recommend it. However, I would suggest adding foam pads to the beds, as they were all too firm for our group, and a shade umbrella on the side deck is a must, since it gets sun most of the day. The kitchen was well stocked, there were plenty of linens, and the home is very comfortable and is updated just enough. We might be back next year!

“A place to bring friends together” My friends and I stayed at Tahoe Family Donner Home and had a GREAT time! If you are looking for a charming home to stay at with a few friends or family, I would most definitely recommend staying here!! Thanks to the owners who let us enjoy their home. :)

Incline Village house

“Convenient location, great amenities and very helpful owner!” We stayed here with a group of friends for a ski weekend in January. The owner was very helpful in providing not only instructions for arrival, checkout and our stay, but also provided nice personal touches such as restaurant recommendations. We skied at Northstar Resort, which was about 15-20 minutes away. There was plenty of space in the house and it was nicely furnished. The huge TV in the living room was perfect for watching football after a hard day of skiing, and the couches were very comfortable. We loved the pellet stove in the common room, too. The owner provided lots of extra towels, which was perfect because we used the hot tub needed them! Most places I've stayed at seem to forget that guests go through towels so quickly! Also a plus, the owner has a good variety of spices, oils, and cooking necessities in the kitchen that he allows guests to use, which is uncommon around Tahoe but very helpful. This is a perfect house for a weekend in Tahoe. It has enough rooms to provide privacy, but a great communal area for folks to hang out. There was plenty of parking (1 car in garage, 2 in driveway, 2 on the street) even when it was snowing out. The owner's accessibility are also a huge plus! It was nice to know that if a problem arose, we could contact him so easily. Will definitely stay here again in the future.

Northstar Ski Trails Area 1BR Condo

Truckee apartment

1 bedroom / 1 bathroom / sleeps 4

“Comfy Condo with a perfect location” This is a beautiful and comfy condo with a fantastic location. Just a short walk from the restaurants, ice skating ring and all the stores, it is perfect for a family of four or just a romantic getaway for two. Its clean, practical, well appointed and has all the amenities expected including TV, DVD and WiFi. Everything worked flawlessly. The condo is well suited for winter as well as summer vacations. During winter, with its ski in/ski out access, we could literally walk out of the condo and get on the ski trail in the morning and ski back to the condo at the end of the day. We loved the foosball table. We also stay in the condo during the summer and enjoyed it very much. Perfect for serious mountain biking, hiking, walking or just relaxing. The rec center, access included with the condo is within a short walking distance and is fantastic for adults and kids. We loved it, will go back again and would highly recommend it. Thank you for sharing your condo with us.

Spectacular Lake & Ski View

Incline Village house

3 bedrooms / 3 bathrooms / sleeps 8

“Top of the World” We only stayed here 2 nights, but would have loved a longer visit. The house is in good shape and the views are spectacular, as advertised. Kitchen was fine, and master suite was very comfortable, with extra space for our 10-mo old to sleep in the (provided!) Pack-n-play. The baby items provided were a huge help, as we traveled by air. Suzannah was extremely attentive and responsive to my questions and made sure we had a comfortable stay. Location is great, but just expect a bit of a windy drive up and down to/from Incline Village. The only reason I gave service 4 stars is because of a few very minor points of confusion related to garage parking (not available), changes to wifi, and having to take out the trash, but Suzannah kindly explained these things to me, or did her best to clarify any confusion. Older folks might like having a bedroom on the main floor, and there are no steps unless you use the upstairs master suite or sauna/workout room. I'd highly recommend this place to a friend. Would love to come back for a snowy or summertime visit.

Sky Rocks

Kings Beach house

5 bedrooms / 3 bathrooms / sleeps 12

“Great location, great old Tahoe house” We had an amazing time at Sky Rocks and can't wait to go back. The only disappointment occurred when we arrived because the pictures make it look like the property is lake side. It is actually up the hill and requires a ~200 yard walk down a path to the water. The pool is a nice amenity, but is also a walk down a paved road (~150-200 yards). Also, the gas grill didn't work. Other than that, it is a great place to hang out with your family/friends in a rustic Tahoe house.

“Wonderful home for large group.” The house was wonderful, loved the different living spaces, sleeping spaces. The kitchen and living room made a great gathering space. Beautiful area and the bus made it so easy to get to the slopes. The only thing that we found we did not have was bar soap in any of the bathrooms. Liquid hand soap at the sinks is not enough. Also the bear bin was not empty and the garbage was an issue. All in all, we loved the the house and it was perfect for our group and stay.

It's a great spot for a vacation, with plenty to do all year round. Book your Olympic Valley vacation rental with FlipKey and start your adventure, today!

About Olympic Valley, California

When most people think of California, they think of sun and beaches. They don't think about skiing and snow-topped mountains.

Well, Olympic Valley (also known as Squaw Valley) is sure to flip your assumptions about California on their head – it's one of the best ski resorts in America!

Just northwest of Tahoe City, this mining town turned ski resort was the site of the 1960 Winter Olympics, and remains a popular destination for winter sports.

The resort itself was planned and built in 1942, before being opened on Thanksgiving 1949. There are powdery slopes and comfortable chair lifts to get you to the top of the mountain. What more could you need from a winter retreat?

But, it's not just good for winter – summer in Olympic Valley can also be a great adventure. The green forests are excellent for hiking and the view from the top of the mountains cannot be beaten.

What to do

In the winter, snow sports are the big thing in Olympic Valley. Go skiing, snowboarding, and tubing as well as snowmobiling – you can even get mini ones for the kids to try.

The resort also has ice skating rinks and dog sledding courses, so you can enjoy the mountain at your own pace.

For the rest of the year, you can try outdoor pursuits such as hiking, climbing and camping. It's a great spot for a bit of action and adventure!

The Aerial Tram is open all year round, so you can always reach the top of the mountain for the best views.

Make sure you visit the Olympic Museum. There's unique memorabilia from the event itself, as well as news articles and videos from the 60s celebrating this exciting time in the area's history.

Try fly fishing while you're here – you can hire the gear from local stores if you don't have any.

Also, see if you can book your vacation to catch the Wanderlust music and yoga festival – it's been going since 2009 and is always an exciting proposition.

Top Olympic Valley travel tips

The best way to get to Olympic Valley is to fly into Reno Tahoe International Airport, rent a car and drive up the winding paths in the mountains. You'll have fantastic views and will want to stop at every opportunity – we suggest taking a picnic!

If you fancy a bit of shopping, head to the town center and you'll find lots of souvenir stores, as well as boutique independent stores.

Whether you're looking for a winter wonderland or a summer adventure, Olympic Valley has it all. Book your vacation rental on FlipKey today and kick-start your trip.

Family Home with view near Squaw Valley
Wonderful Stay, Excellent Location

My family had a wonderful stay at this Olympic Valley house. The pictures really don't do the house justice. When you arrive, the front of the house is almost overwhelming with its grandeur, and I loved the front landscaping. The open kitchen/dining/living room allowed my family to talk and relax while preparing food. And the kitchen came fully equipped and stocked with all the basic necessities my family needed. Upstairs, there were three large bedrooms and a master and small twin off to the left wing. Downstairs, there was a large game room with a futon and twin bunks. Everyone in my family had ample space and we were very impressed by the number of showers and how well the hot water pressure lasted. By far, this house's best feature is its location. The house is right off the highway (which you can't hear when inside, and only slightly during the highest traffic hours of the day). This allowed us to get to all our activities within 5-15 mins. Rafting the Truckee river was only a 5 min drive for us and driving to the west shore to rent a boat/jet skis only took 15 mins. Getting to the nearest large grocery store took less than 10 mins. The owner, Kevin, is also very pleasant and is always readily available to help with concerns and questions. We loved our stay and would definitely recommend to others!see more

This place is a stone's throw from the village and even closer to Plumpjack's. It is a great location and a great view of the mountain. The size was perfect for my family of 5 (2 adults, 3 kids). There is laundry on the first floor, but you will need quarters and detergent. … see more

Best calue, perfect l location

We stayed in this condo last year during ski season and decided to come back during the summer and everything was just as great! During ski season, the location of this condo is perfect - you go outside and ski lifts are literally 5 minutes away of slow walking. Summer season is just as great, we hiked to High Camp and there are miles and miles of gorgeous trails with an amazing swimming pool on top of the mountain with several restaurants to eat. We just loved every minute of it! The condo was relaxing and cozy and we loved hot tubs down the hall from the condo, absolutely a must after a long day of skiing or hiking. We would definitely stay here again, booking is quick and easy and the host is always responsive and accommodating, so we would never look anywhere else for our Squaw trips.see more
