“More than a vacation destination!” I'm a nature lover so I was not upset that it was pouring rain when we arrived because the brief rain brought a beautiful gift---the loons drifting out of the mist on Walker Pond. You don't have to be a nature lover to enjoy your stay at Cathy and Dan's incredible house on the lake. My husband and I were guests of our daughter's mother-in-law, and we were prepared to be delighted because she had been coming up to Kill Kare Kamp for a few years and we had heard how much she loved it. The house is cozy, spacious and comfortable with a spectacular view of the "pond" from the wraparound veranda. You can also take a trip back in time when you peruse the family photos on the walls or by reading the story of the camp in a book lovingly kept up by Cathy and Dan. The kitchen is like home where you'll want for nothing, every kitchen tool is available in the fully equipped kitchen. We kayaked, we read, we hiked, we tooled around the town, and we did nothing! We loved it!!! I hope to go back.

“Ledge Lodge Idyll” Staying at Ledge Lodge was one of best experiences we have ever had. The cabin is quite lovely; it is rustic but comfortable, cozy but not confining. It is well kept, clean, and provided with all the basics for cabin life, as well as amenities such as a nice dock, clean beach for swimming and beautiful views: the view out the front windows across Walker Pond is stunning! The owners take very good care of the cabin and are always cordial in responding if anything is needed. They have taken great care to make the cabin welcoming, attractive and comfortable. The pellet stove warms the cabin quickly on chilly mornings, and the fireplace provides an extra bit of coziness on cool rainy days. We could not have asked for a better experience, and we would rent the cabin again in a heartbeat. There are interesting towns nearby, Acadia National Park is an easy drive, and good shopping - including farmer's markets - is not far away. We have no hesitation in recommending this cabin, with the caveat that it is relatively small and would be most comfortable for 2-4 people.

“Close to Nirvana” It would be difficult to find a better spot for spending a vacation than the Quietside of Mt. Desert, and the Gray Barn experience is part of the fun. The accomodations are modern and in great shape, and the windows both have a great view over upper Bass Harbor and give great air circulation. Access to cellphone and internet coverage is a convenience. The kitchen is very functional, though you'll want to visit the lobster pounds and restaurants in the area. A perfect base for hiking in acadia National Park. The week we were there was perfect for using the owner's kayaks in the upper harbor and the estuary beyond. We've stayed three different years and will be happy to return.

“Wonderful cottage and location!” We spent a week at Harbors End Cottage and had such a wonderful time in the cozy cottage; the cottage was furnished with everything needed to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We highly recommend a vacation here. An additional plus was the ease of renting and the great communication from the owners.

“A perfect home for our family getaway!” Tranquility on Penobscot Bay was truly a wonderful experience for my entire family! Everything we needed was supplied and the house was very spacious and comfy! All of the beds had great mattresses which was so nice. The kitchen was well stocked. We loved the big yard surrounding the house and the blueberry bushes right off the side porch was an added plus! Every morning my grandchildren went out and picked their own berries for breakfast! We were in the area to attend a wedding at French's Point which was located just a few miles down the road! It was so convenient to participate in wedding events throughout the week! On our one rainy day there, we made a fire and just relaxed in the spacious living area! Loved having a gas grill out on the large deck that wrapped around the house and we used it almost every night! Rocking chairs on the deck for early morning coffee, too! The ages in our family went from 60's down to 1 year old and everyone had the best time ever! Would return to this special home in a heartbeat!

“Seaside Heaven...” Edgewater is amazing! Fully stocked kitchen, very comfortable beds, clean as a whistle. At waters edge. And hosts who go out of their way to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. My 2 adult sisters and I stayed here a week in mid June. Mornings on the deck drinking coffee gazing out at the water, low tides spent combing the rocks for shells and such. AMAZING sunsets from the deck while enjoying a bottle of wine. Very quiet and forested, cottages here are not elbow to elbow! A quick trip to MDI and all it's sights and activities. We would not hesitate to book with Bill and Ruth again. The map that pinpoints where the cabin is, at least on this site, is not correct. It is not near Hwy 3 and the small airport, it is just West of Trenton on Union river bay, a very quick trip onto MDI. We loved being off Island, way less traffic. Get your Lobster already cooked at Trenton lobster pound, grab your wine, and have a beautiful evening on the deck. Beautiful place to stay.

“Comfortable home in a peaceful location” This was the first time our family visited Maine and we couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. The cabin is located in a lovely, private, quiet area. When we inquired about the availability of the cabin the owners, Mike and Dee, responded in a timely fashion. They were kind and considerate. This is evident in the details and care they have taken with their home. The kitchen was so well equipped, we could try our hand at everything from baking popovers to cooking a lobster dinner. The proximity to Echo Lake and the short drive to the hiking trails made the cabin's location all the more convenient. Our kids loved the rope hammock on the deck and we all loved walking to Little Notch bakery in the morning for fresh baked goods and wild blueberry pie! The owners also had a large portfolio filled with recommendations for area restaurants and places to visit. This was really helpful for getting to know the area. We hope to stay here again very soon.
