Best Location - In the heart of DC - METRO

Washington DC house

3 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 6

“Foggy Bottom home away from home” We stayed in this house for 4 nights. The location can't be beat. It is 2 short blocks to the Foggy Bottom Metro and then 1 more short block to a Whole Foods Market. There are numerous restaurants in this area as well. The house has a key pad (no keys to misplace!) and Diana even provided Smart Passes for the metro which we filled at the station. This was extremely convenient and saved $1 a ride. The WiFi was very good and the amenities in the house were excellent. We cooked 4 breakfasts and 3 dinners no problem. The bedrooms were comfortable and tastefully decorated. The bathrooms were clean and with one upstairs and one downstairs (both with showers) met the needs of 2 adults and 2 teens. The best part of the house really was the ability to come "home" after an exhausting day touring DC. We all had space, a soft spot to sit and the comforts of home (a cup of tea, some snacks, a quick shower, etc.). The off street parking worked out fine. We wound up getting a spot in front of the house on a Sunday and just left it there for the weekdays while we took the train. Diana provided a parking permit that made this possible. Thanks to Diana for her wonderful hospitality!

Historic DC: MONROE HOUSE in Arts District

Washington DC house

2 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 5

“Convenient location and off street parking.” Location was convenient to all that DC has to offer. The Metro is close by and Uber is another popular mode of transportation. Neighborhood was very safe. There are several restaurants close by and an organic market. The house or yard does not remind me of any DC house more like Asheville NC, a bit eclectic which I appreciate. The owners were quick to respond and have lots of helpful info on the area.

“Location is everything” Marina's flat is so convenient for visiting DC. We were half a block to the metro, a couple of blocks to We The Pizza and Good Stuff Eatery, and just steps from Tortilla Coast. We'd hop on the metro in the morning and visit museums until our feet couldn't hold us up anymore. Then back to D Street on the metro and the big decision of the evening: where to eat. Visiting during December, we really appreciated the toasty fireplace and how warm the rooms stayed, the large shower, soft bed, big closet, and the ease of navigating DC from the flat. We loved the historical ambiance of Capitol Hill. Very safe and very quiet.

Foggy Bottom - Best Location - Walk to Everything

Washington DC house

3 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 5

“Loved the house and especially the patio!” The stay in Foggy Bottom was absolutely wonderful. We walked to so many things and were right across the street from the Watergate and Kennedy Center. We walked to dinner down at the marina to dine on the water and it was so fun. It was so nice to have the living to congregate in to talk over our plans for the next day and just hang out. The area was really safe and the neighbors very nice. We would definitely stay here again. Diana, the owner, was helpful and a lot of fun to talk with.

“Great place to stay!” My sister and I stayed for a week at this wonderful apartment. It was very convenient to the metro and many restaurants. There was a great organic food store around the corner. We are Dunkin Donuts addicts and were very happy to have one only one block away! The apartment was very clean and well equipped. We actually were able to cook a whole meal for my niece, and her husband. Our only problem was that we are both short and the cabinets are very high! The washer and dryer are also very helpful if you are staying for an extended time.

Washington DC apartment

“Enjoyed out stay” We spent a week at the apartment in early October 2013 and really enjoyed our stay. The location was very convenient for our activities - a few blocks from where our son is living during his internship, and three blocks from the Supreme Court so it was easy to walk to our early-morning line-up to hear oral arguments. For using the Metro, it's about a ten minute walk to the Capitol South station and a brisk 12 minute walk to Union Station. This was much better for us than a hotel room! The apartment is spacious and nicely appointed with nice (probably antique) furniture pieces and modern appliances and fixtures in the kitchen and bathroom. We didn't use the washer and dryer during our one-week stay, but having them right there would be a big plus if we had stayed any longer. We only prepared breakfasts in the kitchen, but it's equipped to do all kinds of cooking. There is a neighborhood store two doors down, so getting food is easy. The TV is a nice big flat-screen, and it has a DVR for recording shows (though we didn't use that). There is also wi-fi with password security. If you're not good getting up and down stairs this isn't the place for you, because you reach the main floor via a somewhat narrow flight of stairs and you reach the main bedroom and the one bathroom via a second flight of stairs. Having the second bedroom/office with the futon was perfect for this trip because our college-age daughter stayed with us part of the time. The manager was very helpful, and communicated with us well and often. He emailed clear and easy instructions for our arrival, he has provided a very thorough and clear notebook of instructions and information in the apartment, he emailed us during our stay to make sure everything was OK, and he emailed instructions for departure (which were also provided in the notebook). All in all it was a good experience and we enjoyed our stay. We would definitely stay here again, and we recommend the apartment and the manager.

“Wonderful experience” My family and I spent a week in this lovely home and enjoyed every minute. The owner Jonathan was waiting for us when we arrived and was very welcoming. He showed us around the house and was very helpful we recommendations. The townhome is beautifully decorated, clean, parking passes for our cars. We all really fell at home. We love the location; walking distance to 2 supermarkets, 5 minutes walk to metro station, a few minutes walk to a big playground for the kids (next to Giant), walking distance to downtown, White house, Smithsonians or a short metro ride. We recommend this house to anybody who wants to visit Washington. We will come back again next time we are in Washington. Thanks Jonathan for being so nice to us.

“Smartly renovated apartment steps from the bus” This is a delightful, well appointed, well-equipped and comfortable apartment with everything you need, just a few steps from the bus to Union from where you can bus or metro it to anywhere. It only has three downsides: it's not a very salubrious area; it's downstairs and the noise of the people clomping about upstairs is disturbing and intrusive; and the nearest supermarket is 20 minutes walk away through even less desirable neighbourhoods.

About Washington DC

Steeped in history and filled with wondrous attractions that have inspired awe in millions of visitors, Washington, DC is one of America's most visited major cities. Home of iconic sites including the White House, the Washington Monument, the Capitol, the Lincoln Memorial and many others, Washington has a decidedly international flavor despite its status as the American capital.

  • The National Mall: An iconic green stretch that is home to many of the city's main sights, including the government buildings and an endless array of museums and memorials, the National Mall is one of the most heavily visited places in the United States.
  • The Smithsonian Institute: A collection of institutions rather than a single museum, the Smithsonian includes art galleries, museums of American culture and history, an air and space museum and beautiful sculpted gardens.
  • Embassy Row: Washington's scenic diplomatic district is highlighted by Embassy Row, a collection of marvelous architecture that houses the city's many foreign dignitaries.
  • Georgetown: This historic neighborhood is home to some of the city's most beautiful homes, and is an excellent place to take a leisurely stroll.
  • Roosevelt Island: Many first-time visitors overlook Roosevelt Island, but it's well worth the effort to get here for the spectacular panoramas of the Washington skyline.

Visitors flock to Washington, DC throughout the year, as its mid-Atlantic location features relatively mild winters, pleasant springs and autumns, and sunny, hot summers. Offering all the conveniences of home at very affordable prices, these rentals are easy to book and make for a relaxing stay.If you have some extra time to explore and want to head outside the city for a day trip, Arlington National Cemetery is just a short drive away. While in Arlington, you can also check out the Pentagon as well as Marine and Air Force national memorials.

Lots of space for family of four to spread out. Everything was clean and nicer than a hotel and less expensive. Several block walk to free trolley to Union Station and all attractions. Perfect location, house slightly dated and wouldn't want to walk the neighbourhood at night.

Alan was the perfect host and although the cannabis laws have changed in DC, he was round the house with air fresheners to reduce the smell of cannabis from neighbouring properties. The location of the property was chosen as it was close to the convention center and this worked well for us. i would have preferred a nicer neighbourhood but that is the joys of not knowing where you are going! Great landlord and cannot recommend him enough. The property was a little dated and the rear desk was a little derelict, but on the whole, clean and tidy and perfect for the reason we needed the property.see more
