“This is very clean, well-accomodated, and in a great location!” Our family just returned from a week in this great cabin. We wanted to be very close to acadia National Park, but not in a busy area. The location was perfect for this. The cabin is within walking distance of a small town with great restaurants and stores, and a very short drive (some 5 minutes, some 10 minutes, some 15 minutes) to all the sights of the national park. And when you return to the cabin you experience its quiet and natural setting at its best. It was rejuvenating to be there. The owners have obviously taken a lot of time and effort to make their home user-friendly. It comes equipped with everything you need for cooking and relaxing. Everything is clean and cared for, and the entire cabin has a cozy yet spacious feel to it. Very highly recommended!

“quiet, relaxed and restful, but fun” The location on the quiet side of the island was great. Fun to visit the lobster house, and car museum. Close enough for access to national park, Bar Harbour and nearby attractions. Acadia is obviously unique and beautiful. Location provides good privacy with good access.

“We had a great vacation experience at Cliffside..” We had a marvelous time during our stay at Cliffside and thoroughly enjoyed our trip and the use of this beautiful home with our friends. It was a great location-close to the park and town, but nestled amongst the trees for relaxing privacy. We saw deer behind the house several mornings and took some great pictures of a hawk perched in the tree just beyond our deck. The trails behind the house and Sand Point Road were convenient for morning hiking and jogging. Several mornings we enjoyed our coffee on the decks with their peaceful views of the bay. This lovely home provided a great base for visiting Bar Harbor and acadia- whale watching, visits to Cadillac Mountain, Sand Beach, Thunder Hole, and the Thuya Gardens. We hiked around Jordan Pond and enjoyed the tea and popovers, visited Schoodic Peninsula, and took a carriage tour of the bridges. We really appreciated Bonnie's suggestions for dining and activities to enjoy, and everything went very smoothly from beginning to end. The weather was great and we had a wonderful time.

“Great location, beautiful view, cosy place” We visited for a week with our kids (9, 12 years) in July, I can only support my Co-reviewers: a most beautiful location, the sea at your feet, a spectacular sight with sunsets and rocks for kids to climb, with love, taste and insight prepared surroundings (find a bench/picknic table at the places you like to sit), a cosy, clean place, with all you need to feel comfortable, kind people meeting your needs/wishes whereever possible, lots of interesting things to do (hikes, biking, whale watching) in close distance.

Anchorage - Harborfront in Southwest Harbor
A relaxing family vacation!

Anchorage is a wonderful, comfortable home perfect for a family vacation. As a "family of foodies," we appreciated the well supplied kitchen - cookware, bakeware, tableware, and plenty of tools and widgets to have fun creating meals with local lobster (and other seafood), blueberries, and farmers' market goodies. The dining room shelves stocked with books and games were a huge hit with our family. An upstairs bedroom with two twin beds was so perfect for our boys, they didn't even fuss about bedtime. The house is simply wonderful. One complaint - just one, but because it was at the very end of our stay, it continues to grate on me. After we returned home, we were contacted by the management company, who told us that the housekeeper reported to the owner that the house "smelled like we smoked there." We were flabbergasted... we rented this home because it was strictly nonsmoking, just like our family! Not only did we obviously not smoke in the home, we took great care to leave the house clean upon our departure. The management company had the good grace to at least sound embarrassed when we mentioned that we treated our boys to pancakes and bacon a few hours before we departed, and that is all the housekeeper could possibly have smelled. We weren't billed for smoke or anything, so big picture, this is a minor complaint after a lovely vacation. It's just that, after paying a solid rental fee and taking good care of the property, we didn't really feel welcome after being questioned.see more
Cedarledge Cottage at Seaside Cottages, waterfront, Acadia - "quiet" side of MDI
Perfect!

My mother and I recently rented this darling 2-bedroom cottage for our girls' trip to Mount Desert Island, Maine. It was exactly what we were looking for! Quiet, semi-private, on a peaceful, secluded granite ledge overlooking gorgeous water. Very comfortable, fantastic views, and well-appointed on the inside (it had everything we needed, including a spacious bathroom and all the kitchen gear we could desire). We loved the brief walk down the path to the beach and spent hours enjoying the water and the view while exploring the shore or sitting on the granite ledge. (We saw seals and a sea otter!) Kathy was very responsive to any questions or concerns that we had (which were minimal/normal). Cedarledge Cottage was also a great center of operations for us on the quiet side of the island, away from tourist bustle, while we explored the surrounding areas during the day -- a quick and easy drive to the best spots in acadia National Park, including things like Cadillac Mountain and Schoodic Peninsula. And our favorite lobster pound, Thurston's, less than 10 minutes away. All in all, we loved this cottage and look forward to returning. Thank you, Kathy and Jay!see more
Log Cabin in the Best Town on Mt. Desert Island
Comfortable home in a peaceful location

This was the first time our family visited Maine and we couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. The cabin is located in a lovely, private, quiet area. When we inquired about the availability of the cabin the owners, Mike and Dee, responded in a timely fashion. They were kind and considerate. This is evident in the details and care they have taken with their home. The kitchen was so well equipped, we could try our hand at everything from baking popovers to cooking a lobster dinner. The proximity to Echo Lake and the short drive to the hiking trails made the cabin's location all the more convenient. Our kids loved the rope hammock on the deck and we all loved walking to Little Notch bakery in the morning for fresh baked goods and wild blueberry pie! The owners also had a large portfolio filled with recommendations for area restaurants and places to visit. This was really helpful for getting to know the area. We hope to stay here again very soon.see more
Pauls Cottage @ Seaside Cottages, Mt Desert Acadia
Perfect Getaway!

We stayed at this cottage for one glorious week in October. Found it on the internet and it exceeded our expectation. Kathy is very personable and easy to work with. The cottage is very well maintained/clean and very well stocked. It is very comfortable and cozy. The proximity to sights and necessities is perfect. It is refreshing to go home to the "quiet side" of the island after a day of sightseeing/.hiking and to be close to that home. The pictures are a very good representation of what you get, we were fortunate to have sun everyday and a full moon by night. Highly recommended!see more
