“We loved every minute of our stay.” This cabin is just beautiful! We spent a week here. Mornings found us on the front porch enjoying the mountain air and the music of birds singing. It's a perfect location for just relaxing, bird watching or to set out on mountain adventures! Mingo Falls is nearby and the stunning view will have you wanting to stay for hours! Tom Branch, Juney Whank, Soco and Meigs falls are also nearby and all beautiful! We had several meals at the cabin and found all the pots, pans, utensils and table settings needed. It's a short drive to many restaurants and we located a Ruth's Chris restaurant on the Cherokee Indian Casino grounds for a special birthday celebration. I would highly recommend the Climbing Bear Creekside Cabin for anyone wanting to have an unforgettable mountain vacation!

“Great family retreat with a great view.” This house is situated high enough that you have a great view of the mountain ranges out the great room windows. Enjoyed the large deck and gas grill. If the weather had been a little nicer it would have been a great area to hang out in the evening. We really enjoyed our weekend there. We would stay again if we were back in the area.

“Best anniversary yet.” We brought our extended family to the Ferguson House for our 39th anniversary. Everyone loved staying here, it was large enough to accomodate all of us. The patio area with firepit, hot tub, waterfall, and views were particularily enjoyed in the evening. We cooked out on the gas grill and had a great time indoors and outdoors. We all would highly recommend Ferguson House. Thanks for letting us stay here. Hope to come back same time next year for our 40th anniversary.

“Relax- you've found your cabin” Just what we needed to get away from it all for a few days. Clean, well furnished cabin that had all the essentials plus some nice extras in case you forgot some things. Truly spectacular setting with outstanding views. Ten minute drive to downtown, with its mix of trendy and traditional shops, restaurants and galleries. John and Judy are friendly and helpful- willing to offer dining suggestions or directions- but never overbearing. Manageable drive to either the mountains or to asheville to expand your visit options. Close to hiking, fishing and other activities, or you can just relax in the hot tub or by the fire and take it all in. The pace is up to you

Maggie Valley log cabin

“Beautiful cabin and view” The drive to the cabin was fairly easy since the road is paved. However, the turn in to the private drive was tricky for our Chrysler Town and Country minivan. We couldn't make it in one turn and had to stop and backup a little then put it back in drive to make the turn. Also, any time we left the cabin we had to backup and put it back in drive a couple of times before we could get turned around. Smaller vehicles will probably not have this problem. The cabin is beautiful with all the large windows and so many gorgeous logs! We loved sitting out on the deck looking at the mountains and listening to the nearby creek. We wished a few more trees had been cut down, but were happy for those that had been. We understand the sun could be a problem since there are no blinds in the kitchen or living room and we had the sun in our eyes every morning. I would recommend some of the small pull down blinds for those windows. The decks are awesome and provide a ton of space, but we wish there had been more furniture on both decks (there is none on the lower level where the hot tub is). The hot tub and sauna were amazing. The upstairs guest bathtub is wonderful, as is the shower downstairs. There needs to be more bath/hand towels and washcloths in all bathrooms. I would recommend towels on the lower level specifically for use with the hot tub/sauna. We had fun playing pool and the table is in great shape. As much as we loved the cabin there was one thing that would keep us from going back...the beds. Not everyone slept well and when you are somewhere for a week rest is important. We realize bed preferences are very individualized and others may find them more comfortable than we did. Lastly, the reservation process and picking up/returning keys was very easy.

About Sylva

In the center of Jackson County lies Sylva, a quaint old-style town that is the perfect getaway for those looking for a vacation that’s quiet but adventurous.

Pack your bags and book your Sylva vacation rental on FlipKey to discover the wonders this town has to offer.

About Sylva, North Carolina

As the county seat, Sylva is a pretty big deal compared to the surrounding towns and villages. That's why it's a great place to stay—you're in the center of everything.

The town is very proud of its history and natural beauty. There are four wonderful parks for you to enjoy, all with different features. Playgrounds, volleyball courts, basketball courts and spots for outdoor concerts—you'll never want to leave!

Film fans may recognize the area. Downtown Sylva is a popular filming location. The Fugitive and Deliverance were both filmed here.

The town is a hotspot for breweries and antique markets. So, why not stop for a cold one after a long day of finding furniture?

What to do

The Cherokee Indian Reservation sits nearby. It's a popular tourist spot, and well worth a visit! By staying outside, you'll save money and avoid having to deal with crowds.

For the best view in town, climb the 107 steps up to the courthouse and look back towards the town. You'll have a spectacular view of Downtown and the mountains—there's nothing quite like it!

If you're a fan of shopping, you'll love the local independent stores, which are filled with interesting items you'll just have to take home.

Visit Innovation Brewing and the Heinzelmannchen Brewery in the center of town and sample their latest ales.

If you're looking for something a little more exciting, go fishing for trout, white water rafting or hiking through the hills. There are lots of outdoor opportunities here.

Top travel tips

See if you can book your vacation during the 'Greening Up The Mountains’ festival. There are two stages for musicians and the town really comes alive for the duration.

During the summer, concerts on the creek are held weekly. See if you can catch a couple before you go.

We suggest driving to Sylva. That way you can explore the mountains in the surrounding area and pop to other towns if they take your fancy.

Sylva is a tourist town that is getting better every day. Book your vacation rental with FlipKey now!
