My husband, Eric, and I stayed at the General's Cabin for our honeymoon last week. I will admit that when Eric initially brought up the idea of staying in a rural, rustic cabin for the week, I wasn't overly excited. But one look at the cabin and the surrounding areas and I couldn't help but fall in love. We opted to take our two puppies which was a great decision. The property that the cabin sits on has private walking trails, a fishing pond and is completely fenced in which we all LOVED! It was so nice to be able to lay in the hammock, grill dinner or enjoy coffee out on the beautiful front patio overlooking the woods and let the dogs run free.
Joy and Michael were wonderful to work with- communication was easy and they took the time to add personal touches like roses and champagne at check-in. They even called on our second night to check on us and give some pointers on where to visit.
We expected to be on the go for the whole week, but there was enough to do at the cabin that we spent a majority of our time relaxing...which was much needed after the busyness of our wedding the weekend before. Red River Gorge is gorgeous! The trails were great and the lookouts were breathtaking. If you have a chance to go into Natural Bridge State Park, we highly recommend the sky lift to Natural Bridge and Miguel's Pizza. I thought I had, had great pizza before, but this was honestly the best I've ever had. So fresh! And they even had gluten-free options for me!
Thank you, Joy and Michael, for lending us your home for the week. It was truly a wonderful vacation and we look forward to...
