“Ultimate Vacation Relaxation Opportunity” I really hate to say too much; we will have to compete with all of you for our next stay. This is a great spot, with a fabulous house, that has the feel that you are way off the beaten path, even though you are only 2 miles from the highway, and maybe 6 miles from good restaurants and groceries. We were lucky with weather for our late January stay; I understand sometimes the rains can take over. The surf is high, and beautiful when the winds come straight in, but we also had several days where things calmed down, and we could swim and snorkle, which you must be cautious about, especially in the winter. We started every morning with a beach walk - only a few other folks around. We stopped looking for other beaches after just a couple days, wondering why go anywhere else. We hit the beach early, and some of the shoreline is in shade from overhanging trees. There are reefs along both edges that do break up the surf, so there are opportunities to get a bit wet no matter what. Hiking trails start from the beach, and we tried some, but not all. They do lead to some great views. We could see whales in the ocean from our deck, and if you hiked to the points, you were even closer. There are 25 or 30 houses in the neighborhood around you, although you can't tell that from the house. It appears to be the best place on this Bay; but if it isn't, you won't complain. Bring your GPS for your car, and put this house as your "HOME", to help get back after dark.

“spoiled” my husband and I had a GREAT time here, the house was beautiful and comfortable. The beach was great for walks and photos. We watched whales from the beautiful lanai. The beds, sheets and towels were very nice quality. This Island is spectacular, so much to see and do and having. a great place to go back to after a long day of sightseeing made it even more special. We spent the remainder of our vacation on the big island and we were very disappointed and actually tried to re-rent this house but it was booked.....this is where spoiled comes into play. Can't wait to go back and do plan on renting this beautiful house again. Thanks for a most memorable vacation!!!

“Wonderful house” Garden Island Properties generously helped us find a very last minute vacation rental. We really enjoyed our stay at the Hibiscus Hula, even with the rain :) It's a really great house! We appreciated the character of the house, the cleanliness, the views, the hot tub, the location, the quiet, etc. We are grateful to have found an affordable, wonderful vacation house !

Hale Makai Beachfront Home, AC, Oceanfront on Anahola Bay, TVNC# 5065

Anahola house

“Paradise!” My better half and I spent an amazing week at Hale Makai. The house is beautiful with every amenity we could have asked for including a full kitchen stocked with everything any cook would ever require, washer/dryer, boogie boards, snorkel gear, chairs, umbrella, etc. But the finest amenity is the best and easiest beach access we've ever experienced. In fact, the beach access is so easy at Hale Makai, that I would roll out of bed every morning (in my boxers), walk out the back door, and in less then a minute my feet would be in the refreshing water of anahola Bay. So comfortable there that I doubt I'll ever be able to do that again anywhere else. I highly recommend Hale Makai and can't wait to return.

“A grand place” WONDERfUL!

Price per night from

“Hot at night” The first night was great. But the next morning when we left the condo, we followed instructions to turn the air down and it was never the same after that. We made sure the doors were shut tight. It took about 2 hours for the rooms to get down to a comfortable temp and every night we slept with no covers on because it was too hot. Seems like the air needs to be checked. We were afraid to leave our sliders open even for a little bit becuse it took so long to get the rooms back to a comfortable temp. Also, I see no reason that the kids can't use a kid-sized floaty ring in the pool and I even saw a man sipping a soda at 10 in the morning get reprimanded and told to take his beverage out. The pool was too strict this time making it kid and family-unfriendly. Also, it would be nice if the landscapers with their mowers and blowers could work around the pool hours. We used the pool exactly 1x during our stay. :(

Pali Ke Kua #241 - Top Floor Ocean and Mountain Views, Bali Hai sunsets, A/C

Princeville apartment

“A nice property but crowded and hot” I really like the location of the Pali Ke Kua condo's. Easy walking distance to the princeville beach, view of the ocean and easy access to a walking trail. We stayed in unit 241 which was clean and very nice inside. A little worn in places but overall very nice. Another positive is the 1000sq feet and the two beds in the second bedroom making it perfect for a family with more than one child. On the downside the Pali Ke Kua is a very high density condo building that was built before insulation was required so get used to hearing your neighbors talk, shower, flush their toilets etc. If they come home drunk you get to enjoy that also. I've stayed at the Pali Ke Kua twice and both time I have thought the value is excellent considering the views and location. Just be aware it isn't the most quiet location.

About Anahola

With beautiful beaches, friendly locals, and a wide range of sporting and cultural activities, the charming Hawaiian town of Anahola has it all! You can find unique art galleries and some of the best authentic Hawaiian cuisine on the island on Main Street, while outdoor activities and nightlife options are spread across town.

There's more than enough to do here to fill a vacation itinerary, but here are just a few of the must-see destinations in the area:

  • Go Snuba Diving: Try out this sport that is similar to scuba diving, except that the tank floats above you instead of on your back.
  • Kauai International Theatre: Enjoy the wide range of live musical and theatrical performances featuring some of the best actors and performers on the island.
  • Anahola Beach: Go swimming in the crystal blue waters, or rent a board and take a lesson with one of the local surfing pros.
  • Davison Arts: This charming gallery features pieces from up-and-coming artists throughout the state.
  • Mountain Tubing Adventure: Head to this local theme park just outside of Anahola.
  • Waimea Canyon: Referred to as the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific," there's no shortage of hiking trails and scenic views here.

No matter when you decide to visit Anahola, there will likely be events and festivals to take part in both in and around the area. Cheer on the hundreds of racers competing in the international competition known as the Kauai World Challenge in May, watch the top Hawaiian slack key guitar artists perform during the Hawaiian Slack Key Festival in November, or sample the handcrafted goods from top Hawaiian designers during the Garden Isle Artisan Fair in March.

Rather than stay in a hotel, consider booking one of the many vacation rentals available in the Anahola area. Rent a high-end condo with luxury amenities that's just steps from the beach, or opt for a property that puts you closer to the cultural attractions and authentic local cuisine that can be found in town.

The island of Kauai is small enough that you can reach anywhere on the island within 90 minutes by car. If you have some extra time to explore the area, be sure to visit the array of art galleries in Hanapepe, the quaint village of Kilauea, or the secluded Lumahai Beach.

So relaxing

We had a marvelous time at the Hibiscus Hula. That anahola is a quiet local community really made the experience. The swimming is great, the surfing better than our skill levels, and the snorkeling poor (but better elsewhere). While walking the beach in front of the cottage we saw a monk seal, whales breaching, and native ocean birds (and the ubiquitous chickens). You really can't go wrong with this place.see more

DREAMY BEACH, STUNNING VIEWS,, AWESOME LOCATION, Big Discount Aug. & Sept $
WOW! We can't say enough about this property. a billion dollor view and more.

Our family had a Fabulous time But i think next time we'll make it a romantic getaway for just the two of us. At least for a 2 couple of days. When we would leave to go sight seeing we could'nt wait to get back to this private oasis. You're perched up on a bluff with very unique views of the ocean waves coming in as well as seeing them go by.It's hard to take your eyes off of this spectacular reef with all it's beauty as it changes with the tides. It's a great place for snorkling and just steps away from the beach. Their a with lots of nice patio furniture in to enjoy different locations to enjoy the scenery and have a B.B.Q. We love listening to the waves while having a glass of wine under the star studded sky. It is so dark some nights you feel like you can touch the stars and when the moon is over the ocean you can see the waves at night. It's AWESOME! The house is older plantation style, but that's ok with us because a newer home on this property would probably rent in the thousands per night. We loved the new french doors leading from the kitchen area and front bedroom to really catch the trade winds. It was nice to have 2 T,V,s ,one for the kids in the back room and a 60in. in front room. We did use the Wi-Fi on occasion and you should bring a cell phone. there is no phone service.Over all we had a terrific vacation with lots of family fun and a great serene place to relax. I would highly recommend it for your next vacation.see more

This is a beautiful place to stay

We stayed here for almost 3 weeks. The house was very clean when we arrived. The cleanest I have ever experienced in over 10 years of renting homes. I had a few items that I needed to call about. The rental agent immediately answered her phone on a Sunday morning and was happy to help. … see more

Family Vacation

Incredible. If you are looking for a relaxing time on a private beach with the sound of waves constantly reminding you slow down then this is it. We spend 10 days with our 3 kids (2,8,10) at this home and had the best family vacation. We were centrally located to explore everywhere but the best times were had hanging at the house swimming and sleeping and playing.see more
