“September 2011” Beautiful setting outside Modica, a car is essential to get around. Antony is very friendly and always helpful. Only downside, the Wlan could use a boost.

18th Century Home with Captivating Historic Charm
Charming Sicilean villa

This private villa rental was the perfect Italian getaway we've been dreaming of. Superb value, and if you like your own space, this villa has it. In the centre authentic medieval village of Modica, only a short walking distances to all restaurants and the little shops and cafes. This old house was beautifully renovated with all necessary amenities and with a nice little terrace where we had breakfast every morning and a drink every evening. It is a bright, cheerily decorated, clean, spacious haven in a superb location. It can easily accommodate 7 people in comfort. The place is equipped with all things that you would need for an extended stay and downstairs you can find fabulous fruits/vegetables stand as well as cheeses, fish and meats little amazing stores. We like the booklets and written information the owners left in the house, recommending all the good stores, restaurant and tourists attractions in the area. We took daily short trips to all the attractions in Sicily and it was a great thing to come home and relax by day end, before walking to dinner. Driving to the beach was only 20 easy min, on a breath taking view... We like to thank you for an amazing stay and we will definitely be there again. In fact, I'm just waiting to confirm my work schedule in order to book it again. Can't wait! … see more

A beautiful tranquil retreat hiding behind the most amazing cath

We were lucky enough to be some of the first guests to stay at Hortus and from the moment we walked through the very understated (but very stylish) gate, to the moment we left we were completely blown away with Hortus. The thought and care that had gone into each and every detail of the property from the different themed bedrooms, the antique linen, the ultra modern kitchen to the fantastic garden with it's orange and pomengranate trees, was incredible. Hortus mixes the old with the new beautfully. Luca and Paulo have done an incredible job with renovation and have incorporated many of Sicily's natural features, beauty and materials into the property: the huge garden table and sink, the specially commissioned hand basins in the bathrooms, the spiral staircase to wine cellar, the indoor spa, the plunge pool.. I could go on, but you need to discover it's charm and secrets for yourself! If that isn't enough to tempt you, the lovely amalia is on hand to make sure that you are looked after. Nothing is too much trouble from booking private cars, tours, recommending restaurants, hair appointments - whatever you want to do, Amalia will help if she can - She treats you as if you were a guest staying in her home. Add to that the fact that you are in one of the most stunning locations in Sicily, the shops, cafe's, bars and holidaying amongst some of the most friendly people I've ever met and you've got a holiday that is very difficult to beat. In short, it's a stunning holiday property that will always shine very brightly in our memory and keep us coming back to Sicily and the wonderful city of Modica time and time again. Bravo! … see more
LIBECCIO - Studio in restored farmhouse - Modica Sicily
beautifull, comfortable, quiet, newly equipped

this spot -a little bit outside the city- is a quiet place, with a nice overview on the countryside between Modica and the sea. The swimming pool was big and clean. our apartment was well / new equipped, as was the kitchen. The airco was necessairy (due to the bed on the mezzanine), but well working. In the neighbour area you find houses under construction, but this was not disturbing the athmosphere. Antony the "house keeper" was very kind and helpfull when necessary. in the region we found many nice places of various kinds (history, nature, little towns) to visit. shops in neighbourhood, but car is required. … see more
