“A true get-a-way!” From the moment we landed, to the moment we left, George took care of every detail! If you are looking for a true get-a-way - this is the place. A busy day at the beach might include seeing 1 or 2 other people, otherwise you have every beach to your self! There is plenty to enjoy on the beach in from of Wymmsicalwish or take a drive, there are secluded beaches down every dirt road, each with their own unique personality. This was our second (of many more to come)visit to Whymmsical Wish. We have stayed there with our grown children and it has been throughly enjoyed by all.The guest house comfortably slept all 6 adults and we enjoyed breakfast every morning in the screened it porch. The fully equiped kitchen allowed us to make lunches and snacks to enjoy at the beach. We all were greatful for the wireless access to make sure that things were running well back at the office!

“Awesome stay” We stayed at Grotto Bay for a week in May. Salt Pond offers easy access to both ends of the island which you should absolutely explore. We went to numerous beaches and never had other people on them. Long Island doesn't have much to do other than beaches. There are a few restaurants and local markets, but other than that any kind of commerce is non existent. We flew in and out of Deadman's Cay and rented a car from Mr. T. Definitely recommend having a car. I wouldn't recommend Southern air, flights were late and planes iffy. As for our accommodations and hosts we couldn't have been happier. Jeannie and Kris gave us great suggestions and were more than happy to help with car reservations and general questions. The beach at the Grotto Bay is pretty and the water gorgeous. They have kayaks and paddleboards for use with islands close by to paddle to. We definitely recommend Grotto Bay and would go back with no hesitations.

“Perfect Getaway!!” The Cabin was perfect and equipped with everything my husband and I needed!! George was the perfect host, helping us arrange a rental car, fishing guide and great local sights, including an absolutely beautiful secluded beach that we had to ourselves for the day. We enjoyed taking the kayaks out to explore. He was there to answer any questions and meet our needs but we also had plenty of privacy. We plan to return (with our kids) this winter and stay in the larger house. Even though we were able to find most of the items we needed, We will send food ahead next time because it is so expensive on the island and the choice of meats is so limited.

“Shangri La” This is a beautiful spot. The cottage itself was very clean and lovely. The sheets were excellent, and the kitchen had every cooking utensil needed, along with heavy bottomed cookware (excellent for cooking that cracked corn for grits!) Sara and Dan are very knowledgeable, and generous with said knowledge. The beach is a short walk and is gorgeous, and quiet. No complaints whatsoever!

Amazing Villa ocean front

We arrived in the afternoon: Robin and Mike were at the airport for welcoming us. They have been very helpful, gave us info about the island and showed us our beautiful accomodation. They left us some presents (beer, sangria, tea, coffee...). Inside we found perfectly equipped kitchen, bedroom and bathroom with many towels; outside an ocean view terrace with fireplace, grill and deckchair: everything is new or very well maintained. Long Island is very interesting, there are many beaches you can explore using the jeep (I really enjoyed it!), people are very friendly and you can leave your home and car open (everywhere on the island): nobody will touch anything!! There are lagoons on the Carribean side and deeper water on ocean side (where is located the Villa). You will be alone on most of the beaches: you can easily find your private one. Very interesting and uncommon are the blue holes that you can see very close to the shore. We couldn't see many fish, maybe you can see more renting a boat... If the sea is rough, you can always swim near the Villa, because there is a kind of small lagoon in front of it. When you want to spend some time outside the water, you can drive and walk to the Columbus monument or eat conch salad at Max bar&grill. One week passed by too quickly!!!see more
Grotto Bay - Affordable Luxury On A Private Beach!
I left my heart in Grotto Bay

Our stay at Grotta Bay was wonderful! Jeannie and Kris are great people and it is easy to tell that they love Long Island. We had luxurious privacy in our comfortable (and so affordable!) beachfront room that was graced with cooling evening breezes. During the day, with the help of Jeannie, we were able to interact with the community of Long Island getting fish from local fisherman, car rentals from their farmer neighbor down the road, and even fresh produce and guava jam at the Farmers' market the Jeannie helped to start! We had fun meeting lots of locals, everyone was friendly and welcoming. We also had fun exploring on our own. Jeannie told us about all of the Long Island secret spots that we often had to ourselves. She provided us with excellent driving directions and high quality snorkel gear, including shorty wet suits, so that we could enjoy all of the fun of the ocean in safety and comfort. And all the gear was included in the lodging fee!! We spent plenty of time right on the beautiful Grotto bay beach where we swam, looked out for amy the resident turtle, had a surprise dolphin spotting, and played with all of the water toys that were free for us as guests to use including kayaks and stand up paddle boards (super fun!). We also were able to relax and prepare meals in the outdoor kitchen, even eating coconuts plucked right from the tree. Other factors that made our stay especially good were being able to walk to two grocery stores, being centrally located on this long skinny island so that it was easy to go north or south for day trips, and having Jeannie arrange reservations for everything from car rentals, to restaurants, to tracking down good local papaya and fish for us! Overall we loved our stay at Grotto Bay and highly recommend it for couples or families.see more

Was exactly what we were looking for. I wish I was there now.

George. He’s all that the reviews say he is. He’s friendly, welcoming and helpful. He wants you to enjoy your time on Long Island and in his place, so he’ll offer to do anything to make your visit easy. One day, he asked how our day was and we told him our daughter had gotten too much sun. In minutes, he was over with aloe. Another day, he popped over with an antihistamine for me. Ask him about where to go, and he’ll send you to the best places. (Ask him about the beach behind Hillside) The property: This was exactly what we were looking for. The house is about 1/3 of the way down the island. It was perfect for day trips. Rent a car, it is a must to get around, and even to get food. We loved the quiet, spacious house. It was perfect for our 3 kids and us. We had room to spread out and relax. If you are looking for super fancy, this probably isn’t what you are looking for. It had 4 good size bedrooms, a well-equipped kitchen. It had a dishwasher, a blender, microwave, etc. We loved the screened in porch. We ate out there every morning and evening listening to the sound of the waves and checking out the awesome stars and planets! (No light pollution, so we could see Mars and Venus. So cool!) The beds were comfortable. Our towels (both beach and bath) were changed during our trip. The property is on a quiet strip of beach. We walked along the beach several times, and there was no one there. We saw crabs and found great shells. My husband went snorkelling out on the small reef by the house and said it was a good beginner place to go. When we wanted to go swimming or play on the beach, we tried the many other beaches on the island (Cape Santa Maria, the Hug, Dean’s Blue Hole, and Hillside were our fav places to go) We were really glad to have a kitchen during our trip. Restaurants are not always available or close by (island charm) so we were really glad to be able to cook. Ask George about Hillside store. It was his suggestion, and the best we found on the island. No laundry in the house, but George will wash and dry for $10 Would definitely recommend it.see more
The Cottage at Palmirage
A Great Island Getaway!

Palmirage is a fabulous place to stay on Long Island. It is centrally located and you could not find a better person to rent from than Sara. To let you know how hospitable she is - we arrived on a Sunday when the markets are closed, so she arranged for her friend to open the grocery store for us in the early evening! I have never heard of that! The cottage is decked out with everything you might ever need and the beds and furnishings were very comfortable. Included in the stay were a kayak, snorkel equipment, beach chairs, beach towels, coolers, just to name a few... We stayed for 7 nights and it was the perfect amount of time to explore the island from north to south. Everyday was a new adventure discovering deserted beaches and fabulous sunsets. Sara will also set you up with great guides to help you explore - Presley was the greatest! I plan to go back as soon as I can! Margaret Watson Scottsdale, AZsee more

Beach cottage in paradise

Beautiful clear blue water and amazing beaches with no one on them. This is the place to be if you truly want to get away from EVERYTHING!!! No super stores no Starbucks, no fast food joints, no traffic, just leave your cell phone at home and enjoy a restful stress free vacation. I highly recommend the cottage at the beach. George is a very gracious host and will give you great recommendations on things to do and places to go.see more
