About Tuscany

When you dream of Italy, whether you realize it or not, you often visualize the rolling hills and roads lined with cypress trees of Tuscany.

The central region in Italy is about 9,000 square miles and encompasses many famous destinations, including the region's capital, Florence. Some of the region's top places to visit are recognized World Heritage sites, including the entire historical centers ofFlorence, Siena, San Gimignano and Pienza as well as the Square of Miracles in Pisa with its Leaning Tower and the entire valley in southern Tuscany known as the Val d'Orcia. In addition to these wonders, visitors should not miss the walled town of Lucca nor the medieval hilltop village of Volterra.

Tuscany is rich in culture, history and arts. All are intertwined: Tuscany, and Florence in particular, were the birthplace of the Renaissance. Tuscany is the birthplace of greats such as Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Botticelli and Donatello in the arts, Dante Alighieri, Boccaccio and Petrarch in literature, Puccini, Guido d'Arezzo (invented modern musical notation) and today's present day tenor Andrea Bocelli in music. Everywhere you visit, from Piazza del Duomo and the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, to the Duomo andCivic Palace in Siena, you will be able to see the lasting landmarks and masterpieces this period in history has left for us to marvel at today.

While most of the postcards from Tuscany show soft, rolling hills, the region is also distinguished for the variety in its landscape including its coastal seaside beaches and towns, its mountains and the many valleys with stunning hilltop towns on every gentle peak in between. The magnificent island of Elba offers clear, blue waters and reefs that remind one of other destinations across the globe.

An essential part of your visit will include enjoying the delicious food and wines produced in Tuscany. The region brings life to the finest Italian red wines, including Chianti, Brunello di Montalcino, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano and numerous modern-day "Super Tuscans". Enjoy your wine with great Tuscan specialties: a plate of tagliatelle with white truffles from San Miniato or pici with Pecorino di Pienza cheese sauce, a fine Florentine steak of locally-bred Chianina beef or a panzanella bread salad with a drizzle of high-quality Tuscan extra virgin olive oil.

Tuscany's two international airports, in Pisa (PSA) and Florence (FLR), connect the region to the rest of Europe and the world. From there, you can easily move around the region using the excellent rail system, although some areas - including Chianti and Val d'Orcia - are better explored with your own means of transportation. The port city of Livorno (Leghorn) welcomes hundreds of cruise ship travelers every day.

Tuscany is beautiful year-round, with generally mild temperatures. The warmest months are July and August, and January and February the coldest. Only the highest peaks get enough snow to attract skiers. The best months for visiting are from March to June and from September through early November.

Tuscany offers great treasures for all. Whether you're on your first visit or returning again to enjoy a longer vacation, you will marvel at the magnificent masterpieces this region has inspired in all who have visited and lived here over the course of centuries.

LUXURY APARTMENT WITH PRIVATE GARDEN & VIEWS IDEAL FOR COUPLES
We had a most enjoyable 2 week stay in your apartment!

The location was perfect for visiting the Tuscan Hill towns and local Wineries. The apartment was well equipped to satisfy all your needs. The Terrace was beautiful and we had many nights sitting outside with a glass of wine looking at the scenery. Hopefully we will be able to return in the future!see more
FLORENCE PITTI LOFT
Perfect Location, photo's don't do the listing justice!

The location was perfect. Close to everything. The unit had everything you would need. Beautifully decorated with a bit of historical charm. Dominique was wonderful with his "local" knowledge and so funny with his stories. His English is perfect so that was helpful in our planning. We would stay here again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet place that is close to everything.see more
Real Home Luxury Apartments 20 steps from Duomo; WiFi, Elevator equipped (N. 1)
Perfect Location Steps from the Duo o

We stayed in this wonderful apartment with family on a recent trip to Florence. This two bedroom two bathroom apartment is perfect for two couples with plenty of room and every amenity one could want, all set on the traditional manner in this exceptional apartment. The location literally steps from the Duomo is perfect for exploring the city and returning when you need a break. We cooked in the well equipped kitchen, shopped at the market that Eleanora guided us to and enjoyed the excellent restaurant under the building. The gelateria across the street was an added bonus. We cheered the runners of a marathon from the windows above and thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful place in this beautiful it’s.see more
Beautiful 2BR apartment, AC, WIFI
Perfect location

This apartment is very close to city centre of Florence. Only 20 min walk. It is away from tourists and you feel like living with locals in Florence, however close enough to all tourist attractions. Cute small coffee shops on the way to city . There is an excellent supermarket ( penny market) 5 min away. Try it’s delicious pastries. There is a paid private parking 7 min away. The Apartment is beautiful with all comfort and amenities you need. It has been recently renovated. Bus stops close by and restaurants close by. There is also a close by coffee and pastry shop. We did not try it though. It is very secure and safe. I would definitely stay here again if in a Florence.see more
Villa Le Torri. Apartment Lily, swimming pool, Chianti, 15 min from Florence
Perfect villa, perfect host, perfect vacation!

We are a family of 3 sisters, each with their families, who visited Chianti and stayed in 3 of the villas in Villa le Torri. We loved the place! Everything you need is provided and our host, Liza, was amazing! The kids enjoyed the pool and the adults enjoyed hanging out on the patio, having dinner and sipping our wine. We also loved the restaurant recommendations made by Liza, excellent, local food. We only wish that we had had more time to spend at the villa and visiting the Chianti region. We highly recommend Villa le Torri.see more
BARBADORI SUITE NEAR PONTE VECCHIO
wonderful stay in Florence!

My husband and I stayed at the Via Dei Barbadori on the oltrarno and absolutely loved it! Our must have list included air conditioning, elevator and washer. All were included and worked well, especially the aircon in the 100+ degree heat! Our host was very responsive (within15 minutes) when we couldn’t get the hot water to work properly. He reset the water heater and it was perfect. He also left us a bar of chocolate, a bottle of wine and a large bottle of water. The kitchen was equipped with basics, including coffee and spices. The location was just off the Ponte Vecchio and was perfect for us. It is about a 20 minute walk from the train station, but we used a taxi because of the heat when we arrived. Everything else we just walked to see. We will definitely return to this location!see more
