“Vibe” This place is appropriately described with regards to amenities, etc. It's cozy, comfortable and has everything you want, need or didn't have room for in your luggage. But what can't be described is the feel - it just feels spot-on - it feels Hawaii, and it most definitley feels North Shore. We went in early June, the surf was small by North Shore standards, but perfect for mortals. This time of year was great for us because, without the big surf hype, we had the area to ourselves (especially during the week) to enjoy with with locals. We surfed, we snorkled, we hiked, we hung out .. and so many hanging-out options - inside on the couch, under the fans; on the roof-top as the sun rises, in the lanai, on the lawn chairs, on the hammock, on the beach - or (as i did), ride out a passing rain shower in that grass hut lean-to thingy (that probably has a name) on the beach. One other note - The owners were not there during our stay, but the in-area manager was super-responsive, friendly and helpful!

“Amazing!!” My family of five just returned from a week at this beautiful home and it can only be described as - amazing. My husband was born and raised in Hawaii and the first night was completely overwhelming for him due to the sound of the waves reminding him of his childhood. My 3 little ones literally lived on the beach and begged (which we obliged) to go to the beach each morning and afternoon. Due to the location, the beach is practically secluded - we literally had the beach all to ourselves - unheard of in Hawaii (especially Haleiwa). The home had all the amenities you would need: in the TV room (cable and lots of recent and nostalgic Dvds), in the kitchen (every utensil and appliance you would need for any occasion...we were able to find a rice cooker!!), in the family rooms (your own personal library), too much to list...but just know if you think it, they have it...oh yeah and there's a dyson just in case you're an OCD mother like me!

“Great way to "see" the real Hawaii” We enjoyed the sunsets, watching the surfers, close to the many activities available. We enjoyed the walks, swimming pool and watching for the whales. This is a great way to relax and enjoy the ocean. It was great eating at the small restr. and talking to the local people. Enjoyed their local markets. Just a great way to spend a vacation. Must have a car to get around.

“Delightful stay” We stay there for 3 months during winter, the location is pristine with lush green mountains on the other side and ocean on one side. The apartment itself made our stay in Oahu more pleasant since it has 'that' homey touch instead of a hotel. It felt like we're home.

About Haleiwa

Located on the North Shore of the island of Oahu, Haleiwa is a classic tropical paradise and a postcard perfect vacation destination during any season of the year. Because of its unusually glassy waves, this area is a popular site for serious surfers. Many surfing championships are scheduled here during the winter season when the waves can reach heights greater than 20 feet.

Oahu's North Shore is also a mecca for nature lovers and turtle watchers. Take a guided eco tour by boat and observe turtles of several species as they glide peacefully through the clear green waters of the Pacific. Be sure to experience nature inland as well. The hiking trails here lead to breathtaking overlooks and beautiful views of the ocean from above. Fans of "Lost" will recognize some of these vistas, since portions of the show were filmed here.

After a day of beaches, waves, mountains and cultural experiences, watch the sun set over the ocean and explore the warm, vibrant nightlife of Haleiwa.

Here are a few additional suggestions for your trip:

  • Take a surfing lesson: If you've never gone surfing before, the beaches of Haleiwa are a perfect place to learn. During the summer, the waves are high but manageable for beginners, the area is safe, and the instructors are knowledgeable.
  • Go sea kayaking or paddle surfing: The north shore of Oahu is a perfect place to explore from a position in or close to the water. This is a wonderful way to experience the plants, sea turtles and other marine life just below.
  • Experience a shark encounter: Shark-watching outfitters use a special underwater cage made of bars or protective plexiglass. Get up close and personal with one of the ocean's most fascinating and misunderstood creatures.
  • Go horseback riding: There's no more romantic way to experience Oahu's north shore. Gallop along the beach and explore the inland trails.
  • Visit the Haleiwa Farmer's Market: Wander the stalls of this weekly market to hear some local conversation and learn more about the origins of the freshest Oahu produce.
  • Go skydiving: If you only get a chance to sky dive once in your life, do it here. See exhilarating views of this tropical paradise from above.

To get the most out of your experience in Halewai, find a perfect place to stay. There are plenty of vacation rental opportunities during every season here. You'll have no trouble booking a luxurious villa or beautiful summer condo within a few steps of the beach.

Sunset Beach near Banzai Pipeline
Great place to stay if you want to visit Oahu without being in the middle of all the tourist areas.

Sunset Beach was the perfect location to relax and enjoy the beautiful Hawaiian scenery. The property was everything we were looking for, great area with easy access and a lot of privacy. The unit was very comfortable and homey. We didn't get a chance to meet Bob and Jo Jean, but Judy and her family were very warm and friendly and added to the enjoyment of our stay. Would stay here again without hesitation.see more

Beautiful views

We spent 5 days on the beautiful north shore of Oahu and we loved having Hale Moana as our home base. The setting is absolutely perfect and the home had everything we needed for two adults and two toddlers. We loved lounging in the yard, listening to the huge winter waves, and watching the surfers. The house is conveniently located near Haleiwa, Waimea, and the Foodland. There are also a variety of delicious food trucks nearby. We already want to go back!see more
Turtle Bay unit
Great location, perfect for 2, clean and tidy

We had a great stay at this studio. It is on the same street as the Turtle Bay resort. There is a small fridge and a conventional oven but no microwave. The bathroom was big and the shower pressure was great. There is no hair dryer so don't forget yours. There is an iron for your convienience and also plenty of secure parking. The bed was comfortable and there was a large tv. Very close to the beach and golf course.see more

Aloha Paradise off the grid.

Stayed here with my wife and kids in Sept 2013 for almost 2 weeks. Pics reflect the home, and basic amenities are provided. I wasn't looking for a resort style rental, and the house was very clean. I was looking for a rental away from downtown Oahu. I wanted easy beach access, snorkling, catch the sunsets, hear the ocean at night and walk the beach in the early morning. The location of the home provided all that, and memories to last a lifetime for my kids. Banzai Pipeline is nearby if your into surfing, Waimea Gardens, and Haleiwa is just a short list of places to visit. Grocery store and coffee shop is just up the main road. I would like to stay here again if returning to Oahu in the future. During a stressful time of my life, this place became a home away from home. My kids still talk about this place as it was yesterday. The owners were fantastic! Mahalo from Texassee more

Perfect paradise get away!

Great landlords! Great place! Great location! We will go back! We've rented several places on Oahu and this was by far the best. The landlords were very kind and easy to work with. Thanks for the great place to stay. We'll be back … see more
